Tools and Hardware Reviews of Orbit 62001 Lawn and Garden Digital Watering TimerCustomer Review: Awesome timer Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this timer after I researched almost every timer available at Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-mart and Amazon. When it was all said and done, this one was the one that was rated highest and had the best features. I tried to order this timer last summer 2009, but the item was never in stock, so against better judgment, I purchased 2 Vigoro timers from Home Depot ($35 each) and it was a waste of money. One of them leaked and the other one had already been returned by someone else. To my satisfaction they were back in stock this year so I ordered 2 and they are awesome!
Customer Review: Well-crafted, plenty of configurability Summary: 5 Stars
This unit was a snap to install, has easy-to-follow instructions, and seems configurable enough to do exactly what I wanted: turn on the water three specified times per day, each with a different period. The construction feels solid. There is ample warning for low batteries, and when the batteries get low enough, it stops the flow (the right thing to do!). There is a quick-reference guide inside the display housing that contains enough instruction to perform any operation. Finally, the one-click "manual mode" is an easy way to check your sprinkler setup work!
Customer Review: Orbit 62001 Watering Performance Summary: 5 Stars
I believe that this product is a great value. Programming was simple and construction seems to be sturdy. The removable programmable module is definitely a great feature. No more fighting with the bushes and straining to see the LED while setting this unit up.
I also like the fact that the couplings are not housed in an overly large housing. This makes using the unit on faucets with limited clearance to the ground much easier.
Having used other similar products I would say that this one is a great choice.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this for about 1.5 months. It works as described. I have had no problems with leaks or water damage. My wife was able to reprogram this item while I was out of town without the manual. It is a little loud when the valve opens. It can be startling at 4 am if you aren't sure what it is. We can hear it through our small house. Note: This could be a function of the water pressure as well.
Pros:
No leaks
Easy to program
No problems with water damage
Cons:
A little loud
Customer Review: After initial anguish, good product Summary: 3 Stars
First product did not work, was replaced promptly. Since then has worked well. There is a serious programming glitch. The unit defaults to no days per week. Who in the world would program something to sprinkle no days per week. 99% of people will want to sprinkle every day or every other day. the unit should default to every day. I spent a lot of time tracking this glitch. Also, the outlet threads do not go far enough to the end. I had to grind the end to get some hose fittings on. Excellent warranty. Excellent support
