Tools and Hardware Reviews of Orbit 62035 Extra Valve for Yard Watering System

Customer Review: Works as advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

Been about a month now and no problems from this device. Works just fine. Only annoyance is in manual (water now) mode, you can water either one station or all of them, there is no option for subsets.

In programmed mode you can water any set of the four per "time". You get three of these "times", independent of each other, per 24 hour day.

Waters stations in a given "time" in series, not in parallel, so only one valve is open at a time. This is a Good Thing for us, but it doesn't seem to be changable if you want different behavior.

Customer Review: Good replacement, bad initial design
Summary: 3 Stars

If you're looking for this valve, it's either because you need an additional station on your watering system, or you've found what I did, that these Orbit valves were designed badly in that part of the water inlet coupling deteriorates and breaks below the brass screw-on hose connector. I've had 3 valves do this so far after about a year of use. The bad part is that when it breaks, water pours out of the inlet coupling and it's easy to waste a lot of water if you don't notice right away. Too bad, because the control system itself works well.

Customer Review: Leaky Valves
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought two of these valves through amazon less than a month ago, and have been completely disappointed with them since. One of them has a small leak that barely drips, and the other valve doesn't seem to close at all...water just pores through it constantly. I had read many of the reviews on amazon, and a lot of people had this same problem. However, I had bought 6 of these from my local Home Depot over 3 months ago, and none of them leak. Maybe they get damaged being sent through the mail.

Customer Review: Long-lasting but delicate
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had bad luck with valves dying after a year, but these guys really do last if you take care of them. I discovered that they are *very* sensitive to sand - install a screen filter if you use well-water.

Also, the plastic that they're made of will get brittle in the sun. Install them in the shade, or wrap them in some shade-cloth and you shouldn't have any problems.

For the price, these guys work really well, and last quite a while if you're careful!

Customer Review: Nice alternative, good price
Summary: 5 Stars

The Orbit hose watering system is a good alternative to in-ground sprinklers for people like us who don't want the expense of
in-ground and also have an awkward setup. It allows us to set up timed sprinklers for all the little areas of our gardens.
Good price, mostly indestructible, very convenient, and since we have the older version of the main
timer, these valves are hard to find because Orbit has changed the plugs on its newer system.
