I was in need of a new shower head. The little handle on the bathtub spout that determines if the water is flowing from the spout or the shower head broke off one morning - thankfully it broke when I had it in the shower position. At that point, there was no way for me to clean my shower & bathtub without physically getting under the shower! Or I could have called a plumber to fix my plumbing fixtures but I'm not in the mood to pay a plumber (it would entail cutting drywall out from behind and that would just cost too much).
I got the chrome model to match my 1985 bathroom fixtures. I had seen this brand shower head in some Las Vegas hotel rooms and I figured if it can stand up to commercial use, it would last a long time for me.
I'm a female, and not too mechanically inclined, but I had this shower head installed and working in under 10 minutes. The hardest part was wrapping the Teflon tape around the pipe that comes out of the wall, and getting it even without tearing it. Oxygenics even supplies the Teflon tape with this.
This appears to be very well made compared to some shower heads I checked out at the local orange big box store (in this price range).
Some reviewers complain about the actual shower head being made of plastic --- I figure you are better off dropping a plastic shower head in the tub than a heavy metal shower head. I've dropped it a few times and my tub has came out of it no worse for the wear. The shower head survived too!
And now finally I can clean my bathtub again. Before I got this there was no way to rinse off the ceramic tiles, and I hate to admit it, but they were getting so dull from the lime-scale buildup I didn't want my guests to use the bathroom. Now I can finally have company come over as having a hand-held shower nozzle sure makes it easier to clean the bathtub and tiles.
Only two minor complaints - not enough to warrant a reduction in stars - and it just took some getting used to.....the water comes out of this low-flow shower head at such a high rate that when I had it off the mount and accidentally aimed it towards the shower curtain, the force of the water caused a breeze that blew the shower curtain outwards and the entire floor area near the tub would be wet. I just have to remember not to aim it in that direction now. Also, since this shower head does have a very good flow rate, I can't hold it too close to some areas of my body - it hurts a little! However, it feels really good on an aching back!
Granted, I have only been using this showerhead since mid-March, but so far, it seems to be holding up well. Time will tell I guess, but since it has a lifetime warranty, I'm not worried.
