Tools and Hardware Reviews of Air Pro PUR-14X050 1/4-inch by 50 Polyurethane 250 PSI Air HoseCustomer Review: A lightweight, durable BIRD'S NEST Summary: 3 Stars
I'm a remodel carpenter. I've owned one of these hoses for 5 years, and it gets used whenever I do trim carpentry. It's very lightweight, and seemingly indestructible. Even an accidental encounter with some carpet tackstrip didn't puncture it.
If you unroll it completely, and carefully lay it out on the floor, it will remain relatively tangle free. Its small diameter allows it to easily slip beneath a closed door, unlike my other, thick rubber hoses. (great for nailing the casing on the other side of a closed door, without having to move the compressor into the same room.)
This hose is super flexible. Maybe TOO flexible. Although it unrolls more easily than a thicker rubber hose, especially in cold weather, the 50 foot long PUR hose wants to re-coil itself so badly that it tangles as easily as a 100 foot long, 16 gauge extension cord. Rolling this thing up at the end of the day can make you forget about how light and thin it is, and might cause you to regret spending the extra money on a hose that you probably can't kill, yet might want to give away, if you can untangle it from your feet. I strongly recommend a cord wheel, to try to maintain control of this skinny snake.
Many purchasers of the PUR hose seem to either love it or hate it. I guess I'm somewhere in between. I still use it, but I won't rush to buy another one.
Description of Air Pro PUR-14X050 1/4-inch by 50 Polyurethane 250 PSI Air HoseThe light weight of polyurethane hose makes it ideal for applications where dragging a heavy hose is an issue, like roofing. The smooth, non-marring finish also makes it ideal for indoor trim work where scratching surfaces could create damage. Maintains very good cold weather flexibility. Swivel end fittings reduce hose twist and bend restrictors reduce kinking and help increase the life of the hose. This is possibly the best air hose we've seen. Light polyurethane construction takes the bulk out of it, meaning easier transport, but it's super tough and will not kink or crush, no matter how you abuse it. Rubber hoses become difficult to maneuver when the temperature drops, but this one's light and flexible even in temperatures below zero. You can't see inside rubber hoses, but this one's translucent enough to let you see if you've got contaminants in the line. If you're running a pneumatic tool, you ought to be running your air through this.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste
