Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR 2-Stage Vertical White Faucet Mount FM-3333BCustomer Review: An Expensive Outrage! A Total Waste Of Money! Summary: 1 Stars
This is one of the worst purchases in my entire life. Cheap plastic junk that breaks easily: That is how this could be summed up quite simply. After less than a month, the plastic ring securing the filter to the faucet cracked and water started leaking and spraying. This rendered the filter useless, completely and utterly useless. I contacted PUR and was told that my experience was unfortunate. But hardly unique from reviews I've read across the internet. Since the cheaply made and fragile plastic ring nut is molded into the filter proper, it can not be replaced and fixed. So, now I have boxes of spare filters I purchased on sale that I will never use but were so expensive I hate to throw them away. The filter went in the trash as soon as I was told it could not be repaired. I would caution all people interested in buying a water filter to avoid anything made by PUR. It is an outrage beyond all comprehension that such an expensive item is so cheaply made and easy to break. I hate throwing my money away like this and rank this as a terrible mistake, one of the most frustrating and sickening mistakes of all time.
Customer Review: Broke after 3 months, filters last just a few weeks Summary: 1 Stars
Our house has hard water, so we purchased the PUR Plus Faucet Filtration System in hopes of making our water taste better. It succeeded in that, and that alone.
The filter goes bad FAST. We bought our first new filter after about 10 weeks of use (we're just 2 people and we're rarely home).
About a week after our new filter was in place, the unit developed a leak from the indicator window. This wasn't so bad.
Then came the spraying! A near-inch long crack appeared on the front, and it sprays water in a horizontal column at the user!
Other negatives:
*As the filter reaches the end of its lifespan, water comes out of the unit slower.. and sloooweer.
*The filter completely stops working when the filter is considered "done" by the unit. I found this most ridiculous of all: it just STOPS letting you use it when it decides the filter's no good! Who says the filter is no good? An internal mechanism that knows nothing about the quality of the water going through it? This is obviously a ploy to sell more filters!
Avoid this water filter!
Customer Review: Different units leak after minimal use, no way to call Pur! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased my Pur filter from Target, but it is the same model as this. The first faucet mount we bought lasted a few months before it began to leak through the strip where you can see when it's time to change the filter. I went to the official Pur site and there is NO WAY TO CALL THEM- no phone number. You can "email" them but they require you to provide your date of birth after you submit your initial message for it to actually go through. Of course they have a lengthy "privacy" policy that ensures you will be used for some kind of marketing. So even if you input a fake birthday, you still are being added to some kind of marketing database.
I decided to buy another faucet mount and threw the first away, hoping it was just a bad one in a lot. Also, I still had two other Pur filters to use which is why I stuck with this brand. Well the replacement faucet mount is now leaking after less than a month! Fortunately I saved the box and receipt this time so I will return it to Target. I will never use this product again. And shame on Proctor & Gamble for not providing a customer service number on the Pur site!
Customer Review: Works great... for a few months Summary: 3 Stars
I got one of these as my unfiltered water is totally undrinkable. None of the many washers it came with fitted my sink so I bought one that would (then noticed that if you call them they will sort that for you). It installed no problems after that. The water tastes so much better and comes out at a decent rate. I really like the way you twist it to switch between filtered and unfiltered, very simple and unbreakable.
However, after less than 3 months I noticed a crack in the back of the housing of the fiter near the top. It gradually got bigger, then another one developed and they both started leaking. Now I get 2 big arcs of water coming out the side every time I use the filter. The connector with the tap leaks a bit too but I think that is just that it has worked loose. I would tighten it but what's the point as it's leaking more elsewhere?! I called PUR to complain and they were really nice, sent me a voucher for a replacement. Think I am going to try a chrome model, fingers crossed that won't crack as easily...
Customer Review: Cheap Plastic will Crack Quickly! Summary: 1 Stars
I have owned two of these units in the last two years. The first one was the more expensive 'chrome' unit, which is identical to the white one but comes with one 3 stage filter instead of one 2 stage filter. Both filters fit in both units, so its really disingenuous that they advertise the chrome unit as somehow different or better.
The first (chrome) unit I had lasted about ten months, at which point it developed a leak in the see through indicator and would spray you with water when you used it.
We moved, so I left the old unit behind and bought a new unit (the white one) in July. Now, only four months later, it has developed three seperate cracks, this time in the white casing. I find it unbelievable that Pur did not use stronger plastic. Now we are left with a box of filters we bought expecting to use, and a broken water filter. I have mixed feelings whether to buy another Pur unit or just throw the filters away and start with a new brand. Horrible product.
