Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR 3-Stage Vertical Faucet Mount White FM-3400BCustomer Review: breaks quickly Summary: 1 StarsI've had 2 in one year. They develop hairline cracks that leak. I "gorilla-glued" the second, which worked for 2 months, until another crack developed and water starting running through both faucet and filter.
Customer Review: Awful awful quality Summary: 1 StarsDo not buy this filter. The quality is so bad you cannot even believe it. I have used four of these and all of them cracked in the window after the first 3 months. I am tired of renewing the whole unit everytime I need to change a cartridge. It is not worth it...
Customer Review: Great idea, very poor durability. Summary: 1 StarsThis seems to be such a good idea, and oh so practical. However, there are some serious drawbacks. Primarily, the fact that they just don't last.
I have gone through a couple of these simply because of the fact that they start cracking and leaking everywhere. The last thing I want when I am half asleep and trying to get a glass of water is be sprayed in the face by the Pur filter like some misbehaving errant dog. They really need to reconsider the design as the casing is just too weak to make it a good proposition. Avoid.
Customer Review: My first 1-star review Summary: 1 StarsThis thing fell apart after less than a year of use. First, it developed a leak where it mounts to the faucet. That happened at around 3-4 months of usage. Then, the chrome colored bottom piece where the water comes out fell off, so it was chrome finish on top and black on the bottom. That happened at about 4-5 months. Then, it simultaneously developed a much larger crack where the filter rotates and two pin-sized holes on the visual indicator window, so water would spray everywhere when I turned the filter on and even when I wasn't using the filter. That happened at around 6 months rendering this p.o.s. completely useless. It was as if it had been run over by an 18 wheeler, not just sitting on my sink. This could possibly be the worst product I may have ever purchased. Check my other reviews, I can usually find something good to say about a product, but I am completely dissatisfied with this one. I would not recommend this product to anyone, ever.
Customer Review: Filters well, but low quality control in recent years Summary: 2 StarsLike a previous reviewer, I had a PUR filter on my sink for 5-6 years without issue. When I accidentally broke it during a move, I simply bought a replacement of the most similar model. Within a year, the ubiquitous hairline cracks appeared, either dripping or spraying water whenever the filter is being used. I don't hold out much hope that my luck will change, so I'm planning to contact P&G to find out when/if this problem will be resolved. I hope to be able to post a 5-star review soon, which is what I would have given the original filter I owned (no longer sold).
