I replaced my old filter housing which I had used for over a year (and I got it used, supposedly 3 yrs old) which worked great before failing at the faucet mount.
This *new* filter housing failed after just 2 months! Right at the filter window. What a piece of junk. Of course, I already invested in the additional filters so I've got some for sale if you want them. I'm replacing this entire unit.
Don't waste your money on what looks like a good deal.

I've not had any problems. Works great. Water tastes great. Maybe every one else had problems because they needed to use an adapter where I didn't. This is my first water filter. The quality is there. Keep it chilled in the fridge and it's some of the best tasting water I've had. It's well worth the money, everyone should have one of these. The taste and gallon/price ratio makes it worth it alone. Also, who knows what is leaking into your city/well water. Makes coffee taste great too. I have been using it for almost a year and it hasn't developed any cracks like others have had. I have the black 3-stage one pictured here.
Here's a trick that they probably don't want you to know about.. When your filter stops working, it isn't because the filter itself stopped working. It's because the mechanism inside the filter housing has clicked all the way over and stopped the water flow. If you think your water still tastes good and it probably did right before it stopped flowing on you.. Simply remove the filter like you were going to install a new one.. and the mechanism in the housing resets, then reinstall the filter.
Now you can extend the filter until you wish to replace it. I would recommend replacing it eventually though.
I recommend it.

It is a GREAT product if you don't mind buying the spigot unit every 6 months. As one reviewer stated..
ONE STAR ONLY..simply because they seem to not care about how purly awful a design flaw that is
being left in the unit..seems almost to be on PURpose.

Unfortunately, the filters DO NOT last as long as PUR states. It is suppose to last approximately 3 months or about 100 gallons. I am the only person using this product and only use it for drinking water and making a pot of coffee. The unit does not last as long as the manufacturer states. They need to re-think their advertising.
