Tools and Hardware Reviews of PUR MineralClear Faucet Refill RF-9999, 6 Pack

Customer Review: The work. Nothing Exciting To Write :-)
Summary: 4 Stars

How am I supposed to review a water filter? I will give it a try...

These Pur water filters are simply amazing. They way the filter my water is literally breathtaking! When we replace the water filters, the entire family gathers around the faucet and we stare in wonder as the new, fresh, filtered water gleamingly streams out of our faucet. We will often light candles and speak to the water simply because we are so happy.

The best thing about these filters is simple. Your not destroying the environment by buying countless bottles of water. That was our big decision on buying these. There a little expensive, but not as expensive as a bottle of water. You do save money if you drink a lot of water. The Pur water always tastes great and the filters sure make a difference.

I used to drink sink water all my life. My wife forced me to get these and now i cannot drink regular tap water. The water tastes great!

Customer Review: Best Price for these.
Summary: 5 Stars

I read a lot of people complaining about the lifespan of these filters. I will tell you, just like manufacturer's claims about battery life in Cell Phones, these thing do not last as long as the box says. HOWEVER: If you want filtered water, the cost per gallon (even when the filter only filters 30 gallons, as one review suggested, it is still exceptional. (I normally get about 3 months out of each filter, about 30-60 gallons... we do have soft water here, so Well Water might shorten the life) If you need, or will only drink, filtered water, and you can buy 600 Gallons of clean water for $52, you should do it. Fact is, you get more. Given the choice of buying water at the store at 60 cents/gallon... and lugging it home, I prefer the faucet filter. Even if it only filters 30 gallons, at the store that same amount of water would cost you $15. The filters here are about $8.50 ea The Amazon price is less than half what I pay for replacement filters locally.

Customer Review: Works Great - Watch Your Water Pressure If You Have An Older Sink
Summary: 4 Stars

My filters work great - I am happy with the product - the water has almost no taste after it goes through the filter. I am using my second filter in seven months and I am completed satisfied with quality of this product. If you are new to filtered water devices, my suggestion is not to turn up the water pressure too high when dispensing filtered water through your facets. My original 20 year old one-arm bandit kitchen facet had to be replaced because I believe a guest turned up the water pressure too high when filtering the water and the one arm bandit started leaking water at its base to its sides. Also, the instructions do not tell you how to take out the filter - only how to put in the new one. It was a little difficult to take out the first filter, but I would like to think that was not the norm. The PUR faucet water filter is a good buy - it's much faster and easier than refilling a pitcher over and over again.

Customer Review: PUR filters won't clog if kept in the fridge
Summary: 5 Stars

I, as many other frustrated users of PUR, was quite bothered by the quick dying 3-stage filter. Believe or not, in the past, when the red bar is barely visible, the cartridge dies.

However I found the solution for that. Since I put in a new cartridge, I kept storing the filter system in the cooler of the fridge (not the freezer). Since that my filter has survived till now, without any sigh of slowing down, and the filter life counter is over the 2/3.

The explanation I could think of is: the thing clogged the filter is not something from the water but the microorganisms developing within the cartridge. If you keep the whole system refrigerated, they won't survive and thus the filter will last much longer.

You could give PUR a last try in this way. Hopefully it will help! Also, I hope PUR engineers will read this and find a better solution than keeping the filter cold!

Customer Review: Fantastic filters, but faucet mounts leave something to be desired
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a big fan of these filters. I live in an agricultural town that uses well water with questionable quality: high mineral content, sulphur odor, and the possibility of agricultural pollution. These filters made a drastic difference in the clarity and taste of the water.

Is agricultural waste really contaminating my water and does this this filter remove it? I haven't had the water tested, thus I don't know for sure. There are also mixed opinions about town as to whether bad water is a problem. However, letting my taste buds judge, I'll guess this makes a difference in removing pollutants that I can and cannot taste. These are relatively low-cost filters when purchasing in bulk.

The faucet mount for these filters is a different matter altogether, and I think it is a shame they are not built to the same quality standards as the filters they hold.
