Quite simply, this works just the same as the Kenmore filter and costs a lot less money. By the way, a service man told us that even this filter is good for twice the use that the light on the refrigerator suggests. Just reset the light and you keep on using it. Fortunately my husband installs the filters but it can get messy as there is a considerable amount of water that seeps out onto the floor during the installation process.
Have ordered these filters (2 at a time so as not to be without) several times from Amazon.com because of the substantial savings and free shipping.

This filter is the exact same thing I was duped into thinking a 'kenmore' required a 'kenmore filter...' The crux of the bisquit is, this one doesn't come with a FORTY Dollar BOX... Sears abuses its past reputation; you can buy two from this supplier, the cardboard box won't be as pretty...

Sears products are great buys when they are having a sale, but replacing the refrigerator cartridge will set you back about $55. (Check their site.) This cartridge is exactly the same item and costs sooooo much less. I popped it in and presto! good as new. I'll always check Amazon before ever buying another thing!Customer Review: Great!

We bought a new Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator and this was the first time we bought a replacement filter. This filter came quick and was exactly like the one which came with our refrigerator. Easy to install and has been working with no issues for several weeks so far, all at $20 less than elsewhere.
