Tools and Hardware Reviews of Palmgren 49181 Compound Milling Table with 1/2-Inch U-Clamp Set, Dark GreyCustomer Review: wrong picture Summary: 3 Stars
The picture on this listing matches the Chinese version on every website I have seen it. If you go to the palmgren website ([...]) their photo has some fundamental differences. The most striking is the number of points on the star shaped pocket on the hand wheels. palmgren's has 6 and the chinese copy has 8. The Y travel slide is much wider on palmgren's version and the chines import is a bit narrower. Then there's the mounting slots on the side of the base. The palmgren has four open slots for mounting screws(two not visible) and the Chinese import has two long channels for mounting screws.
The most telling difference is that my Chinese import stripped out the hand wheel shaft because it was made of cheap pot metal exactly as described in a previous review. and mine has 8 pointed star hand wheel faces. as this one does. That detail makes me suspect this one is not the palmgren version but the Chinese import. I suggest buying from the Palmgren website.
But the table is otherwise very sturdy and has very little backlash. I liked mine up until last week.
