Tools and Hardware Reviews of Super Solder Wire 60% 1.0mm Diameter - 1lb SpoolCustomer Review: Good value and works great Summary: 5 Stars
I used this solder to replace blown capacitors on my G5 Imac logic board. The solder worked great! I found a couple of cold solder joints in my work (out of 25 installed capacitors) but I attribute this to being a newbie at electronics soldering and a relatively cool solder iron. (50 watt) These were repaired on a second go, however.
The solder flowed well and held the capacitor leads fast. It also soaks extremely well into Techspray de-solder wick, if you have to re-do any work. My electronics repair project was successful thanks in part to this solder. I recommend!
Customer Review: Cheap, it's solder! Summary: 4 Stars
I use 44 at work, ordered this spool with my WLC100. I've noticed that the flux seems to be of good quality, diameter is a good all around size. 1Lb of solder may not look like much in a picture online but I will say that it goes a LONG way. I've done roughly 2000 circuit board solder joints at work and probably haven't used 1/4lb of solder off a 1lb spool of solder. Most hobbyists and DIY'rs probably don't need 1LB of solder, but its not like solder has an expiration date so it's not a bad thing to have around. I don't see myself ever running out of this spool at home.
Customer Review: Solder is NOT Solder Summary: 1 Stars
I am an electronics engineer and I have been soldering for over 36 years. This is, without any shred of doubt, the worst junk I have ever put to an iron. This rosin core does a terrible job of cleaning and deoxydizing joints and the solder does not flow as a result. Not only that, but it leaves a mess that is hard to clean up. I threw the spool in the trash, as it wasn't worth the effort. Do yourself a favor, spend the few extra dollars and buy name brand solder like Kester.
Customer Review: Great for Electronics Summary: 5 Stars
It's leaded solder - if you're doing PCB/electronics soldering, it's what you want. (lead-free junk is icky to work with in comparison) The solder thickness is also pretty ideal for PCB/electronics applications.
Needless to say, it's always good to have some solder around and a 1 lb. spool will last you a while. For the price, you can't go wrong.
Customer Review: Solder Wire Summary: 5 Stars
I decided to try the uper Solder Wire and I was not disapointed although I had some doubts it would do as good a job as the traditional Rosin Core solder (which I also ordered, just in case ...)
