I have been using these for years and have been very satisfied with them. Now the new and improved ones are even better. They are more sensitive and responsive to changes in light.

I started using these years ago on a project where we needed night lighting for an elderly person. These did the job of providing just enough light at night to light critical walkways and areas without the need for turning on the light. After that we started incorporating these in other projects. Pet owners like them because they illuminate areas where a pet might lay at night and get stepped on. People who get up a lot to use the bathroom in the night also like them because they don't have to turn on any lights and disturb others. People who have guests like them because the guests don't have to be familiar with the house to get around at night if they get up. They can see enough to avoid hazards and find their way around. These things are so handy that we put them in almost every house we wire now. There is always some area in any house that could use a little light after dark.

The lights operate by photo cell. In the day the nightlight is off. After dark they light up, providing just enough light to illuminate an area without so much light that would disturb the darkness or night vision. The LED light uses a negligible amount of power so you don't have to worry about your electric bill being impacted significantly, and of course you also retain a power outlet where you can plug in your typical powered devices.

These are a really nifty little device.
