Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peerless 76950 2-in-1 Shower System, Chrome

Customer Review: I love this Shower Head!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this product for almost a year now and I love it! I had ZERO problems with it leaking as some people have said. I would caution you however if you have a small water heater like I do (30 gallon) that this baby will run you out of hot water quick. It puts out about 2.2 gallons per minute with both parts of the faucet on which means I have about 13 minutes of hot water. I put up with it though cuz this puppy puts out alot of water which I like....I hate the feeling like I have to dance around in the shower to get wet.

There are two very small things I dont like but are hardly worth mentioning. One is I think the hose needs to be about 1 ft longer. The second thing is the 3 way switch on the side is kind of hard to turn. I dont have a problem turning it but my wife (who is only 5'1") has a very hard time turning it as she is already having to reach for it.

Almost forgot...there is actually a third thing...Before I bought this I had a basket for soap and shampoo etc that hung from the shower head pipe coming from the wall....with my old shower head (that had a hose also) i had no problem moving it up and down even with the basket there. Well with this one I had to remove the basket in order to angle the head down far enough that it wasnt spraying directly on the the back wall of the shower. I did however just get one of the corner shleving systems instead and was just as happy.

All in all though I would say its an excellent shower head and would buy it again.

Customer Review: Fabulous Showerhead with Easy Installation
Summary: 5 Stars

A miracle of science -- a relatively inexpensive double showerhead that installed in five minutes with no tools. After reading the reviews I was a bit concerned about the leaking issue that some reviewers mentioned, but this showerhead was rated so highly over-all, that I decided to take the small risk, and I am so glad I did.

Installation required no tools, and the instructions were quite clear. I hand tightened everything, had no leaks anywhere and I now own a terrific massaging showerhead. The stationary head is on a ball joint so, unlike some other two-piece units, you can direct the main showerhead precisely where you want it. I felt this was a crucial feature and was one of the main reasons why I selected this showerhead over other models.

Now, I can toss the dogs in the shower and bathe them with ease - well, relative ease since they hate baths. Also, rinsing soap off the shower walls and thoroughly cleaning them is easily accomplished, which is almost impossible without a hand held shower. And best yet, the shower experience is rather complex with different streams and pressures occurring all at the same time. Although this is a water-saver head, the water pressure is more than adequate.

My only wish is for more metal parts and less plastic, but the head works beautifully and for the price it is a small complaint. I consider this money well spent and I am so pleased with the showerhead I am buying another for our other shower.

Customer Review: Great shower head but very poor quality control
Summary: 5 Stars

Mine leaks like a river! Peerless quality control cannot be this bad! Instead of wasting my time sending this thing back, I took it apart and fixed it myself. If you have a really bad leakage problem, try this before you spend 1-2 hr sending this thing back (assuming you have the right part). Pry off the cap opposite the head valve, remove the stainless screw, the white plastic part, and the valve stem itself. Be careful not to lose the black rubber seal and the spring, 'cause it will pop out if you're not careful. Slowly pull the calve stem from the head. Now, the valve stem supposes to have two o-rings (mine came with only ONE o-ring, hence the ridiculous leakage). If you have one handy like I do (I have a kit from Harbor Freight that has all the different o-rings sizes), then you are set. Well, I install one o-ring that was missing, rub in some silicone grease, and put everything back together. Voila, the shower head now operates perfectly.

My score for Peerless quality control: -10.

My score for the performance of this product: an absolute 5. It makes me feel like taking a shower in a 5-star hotel. The spray pattern is wide and strong. I just love it. All the people in my house love it, except the little kids (they get scared of the strong spray).

Seriously, take your chance of getting a massive leaking shower head and buy this one-it is that good.

Customer Review: Huge Dissapointment!
Summary: 1 Stars

I really wanted to like this shower but it failed on almost every count.

In practice my wife and I never really make use of the dual shower head feature which was the main reason that we got it in the first place.

It really just isn't that useful to have 2 heads: one stationary and the other one movable or handheld which you can use simultaneously.

So, in fact the handheld part is fully sufficient, or would have been if it had worked properly.

We have 50 to 60 lbs of water pressure and the massage features never worked.

Even when using it in handheld mode only, the massage device would just oscillate a few times at most then stop.

The various settings all had partially blocked jets in or out of massage mode and the over all shower stream was never adequate in any mode.

This shower head might have been broken, but the fact that it would vibrate a few times and then quit seemed to indicate that 50 to 60 lbs of water pressure just wasn't quite enough.

We re-replaced the Peerless shower head with an old handheld "Water Pick" one we had kept and are now enjoying showers again. Ten times better, works flawlessly in all modes and it has a flow restrictor as well, supposedly set to the same flow rate as the Peerless.

This shower head was a complete waste of effort, time and money.

Customer Review: Poor design, average functionality....
Summary: 3 Stars

The Peerless 2-in-1 Shower System - quite a title for a below average
shower head.

I needed to replace my old reliable Pollinex unit, with its 5 different streams, including a great pulsating massage setting.
Unfortunately, I am still looking.

First off, the unit is made from that cheap-feeling chrome-like plastic stuff that is almost guaranteed to break sooner than later. The overall feel of the unit is also quite cheap.

Also, the 4 different spray selections of the hand shower are actually just 2 uncomfortable "Crossing spray" settings with the optional pulsating action, which is very weak and not massage like.

The pressure, even with the massage setting, was inadequate at best. Luckily, I was able to remove the flow restrictors in both the head and the hand unit, which improved the flow considerably.

And while it sounded nice, the dual-head action is useless. If you are using the hand unit you generally don't want the head unit on, and since the hand unit also mounts overhead, the head unit is completely redundant. All it adds is cost and irritation.

If you are looking for a decent showerhead, don't go here. This thing is overpriced, cheaply-produced and lacks useful functionality. Go for a simple, well-designed quality unit. I just wish I could've tested it out first.
