Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peerless 76950 2-in-1 Shower System, Chrome

Customer Review: Excellent Product. Package came missing washers.
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the excellent reviews of this product. I also noted that some reviewers had reported a leak problem. So I purchased one set even though I needed three of them. The product worked great and there were no leaks. So I ordered two more. This time the two rubber gaskets that were to be fitted on the hose for the hand showers were missing in both the packages. After installation without the washers, I found both the systems were leaking where washers were missing. Instead of returning the product, shopped for these washers in lowes and could not find a replacement. So I bought a new hose (which incidentally came with two extra washers). I replaced the hose in one systema and fitted the extra washers in the other one. Now they are not leaking and find them as good as the first one I purchased. I wonder whether the people who were reporting leakages had not received the wahers. They come in a separate package.
By the way, when I reported this to Amazon, they decided to refund me the money that I spent on lowes for the hose. That is excellent customer service. I love amazon and the Peerless shower.Peerless 76950 2-in-1 Shower System, Chrome

Customer Review: third times a charm... almost
Summary: 4 Stars

This was the third shower head I tried in 3 weeks. The first one was from Costco but the big head up top kept dropping down. The second, I ordered the Delta In2uition from Amazon and that one kept dripping.

The peerless does not drip and the head stays up. The spray is pretty good. But I disagree with others who say their water use doubled. When I have both sprays on, I notice a drop in pressure in the middle spray. Likewise, when I turn only the middle spray on, I notice increased pressure. So I think the 2.5g valve is for the entire system, regardless of whether you use one head or both.

Here are my suggestions to improve this:
1. kind of a dorky design. I've already decided that this will be moved to the guest bathroom once we find a "permanent" shower head for the master bath.
2. the hose is much shorter than all the others.
3. the hose is plastic, so it doesn't hang nicely since there's very little weight.
4. the middle shower head has a nice spray but it's much smaller than the others.

All in all, I would recommend this shower head for apartment users, secondary bathrooms or bathrooms that are used more for function than form.

Customer Review: Decent shower head.
Summary: 4 Stars

Decent shower head. Detachable head is very light to hold which is good. Fixed head can be turned off. When fixed head is ON, it gives a nice rain water style (as opposed to forced water) feeling.

In cold days you can feel that water coming from fixed head (outer circular part) is colder than center part. So, I tend to turn off the outer one. This may be the effect of trying to sprinkle water droplets (which cool down on their way) instead of big jet. So, can't really blame it on the shower head.

Hose is little stiff. If you have a small shower, you may notice this more. It is possible to twist it so that it stays close to wall, but when you try to take the center part in hand, it will still be tring to pull it towards wall. But, you will get used to it.

Overall, nice shower head. Has the look of an expensive head but not that expensive on amazon.com at all compared to local stores.

Update Jan 15, 2010: After more than a year of regular use, it is still working fine. I expected the plastic ends (connectors on ends of the hose) to break due to stiff hose applying pressure on them during use. But, has not happened. I like it so far.

Customer Review: The best shower-head I've ever used!
Summary: 5 Stars

I do not over-use superlatives, but I must say that this is the best shower-head we've ever used! There is a setting for everyone (under 5'9"---keep reading!), but that can be said of many shower-heads on the market. Not many shower-heads on the market---believe me, I've bought a few!---can blast the conditioner out of my thick, curly hair with the water pressure in my bathroom. Wow! My shower time was reduced by at least 3 minutes.

All of the good things advertised about this unit are true. It installs easily, it has three spray sources (top, hand-held unit, and both), and four spray patterns from the handheld unit.

Some possible drawbacks: If you need a strong spray from the top while using the detached hand-held sprayer, this might not be the product for you. I found the top spray to be very weak while using the detached hand-held sprayer. Then again, the bathroom in which I'm using this does not have great water pressure. Also, if your shower-head is mounted at a standard distance from the floor of your shower and you are more than 5'9", this unit may not work for you. It mounts a few inches lower than other handheld shower-heads.

Customer Review: A nice shower head with lifetime warranty
Summary: 5 Stars

This item can be easily installed. It claims to require wrench or pliers, but if your hand grip is strong, you don't need them for installation. You may need tools to remove your old shower head. I ordered this instead of a 20-dollar-some Waterpik shower head because of its metal connector, vacuum breaker, and lifetime warranty.

The wide shower head makes wide water spray, which lets me feel I am in a rain of warm water -- a REAL shower. I set the diverter to allow more water to the handheld so that the center water pressure is strong, surrounded by wide soft spray. The handheld was a little tight when I tried to remove it from its holder, but a few uses have made it less tight.

One comment on the popular Waterpik TRS 559. When I was shopping for shower head a few weeks ago, I seriously considered TRS 559 because it was cheaper. Back then, its chrome and brushed nickel versions had separate sets of reviews, and a few reviews on the chrome version were negative because of broken plastic connector. However, amazon seems to have moved the chrome version reviews away, and now all you see are good reviews on the brushed nickel version.
