Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peerless 76950 2-in-1 Shower System, ChromeCustomer Review: Love This Shower Head! Summary: 5 Stars
I read the good reviews so purchased this product. My husband installed it with no problem (he's not a plumber, not particularly handy) and we both love it so much that I bought a second to have on hand. Neither of us has ever had a shower head we liked as much. We thought we had low water pressure, but not so with this installed. The handheld nozzle is great for concentrating the water on either oneself or the tub. Everything is easy to use and "just right" for us. We're both in the 5'6" to 5'9" height category, so I can't swear how this is for tall people or short, but it seems easy enough to adjust. We have an older home, standard bath, so I used to sigh looking at huge modern bathrooms with water jets everywhere. Now I wouldn't trade this shower head for all those jets. By coincidence, we bought a new car the same week we got this product. This thing has been more fun than the new car and we like the car just fine. Thanks to all who wrote reviews recommending this as you led me to it.
Customer Review: better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
This product was actually better than I had hoped. I live in an apartment and am always hesitant to do "home" improvements, but I was glad I went through with this one.
A couple notes on installation:
Use teflon tape as has been noted. There is a cheap teflon tape available via Amazon prime from the company Mr. Gasket. Use it at every joint - it worked great.
The first time I went to turn the water on, it looked like the head was leaking at 3 joints. The instructions say to hand tighten all the joints, but I went and grabbed some pliars. I put some masking tape over the pliars to avoid scratching up my shiny new showerhead and gave all the joints one last crank. This solved the problem completely and I don't anticipate any further problems.
This shower head provided a rain-like flow of water that filled my whole shower. I had to point it just slightly towards my shower wall because the stream was wide and I didn't want it getting on the floor!
Customer Review: Excellent shower head, even for low water pressure Summary: 5 Stars
Our home has well water, so I'm always leery of switching shower heads because of pressure issues. The one I replaced didn't have great pressure anyway. I shopped a brick and mortar stores like Target and Home Deposit and saw some shower heads that looked good. However, you just never know what the performance will end up being like. Thus I decided to get on trusty Amazon and read through some reviews, and this Peerless shower head was near the top. So I decided to give it a try, and am very pleased that I did. This shower head just drenches you when you're under it! I feel like my skin and hair are cleaner today than before, and it did a great job getting the soap off my skin and the conditioner out of my hair. The handle part has a ton of spray options too, and seems really solid when you snap it in place. This unit looks great too and gives my shower new life. I am very happy with it, and highly recommend it. Especially if you have low water pressure from well water.
Customer Review: So much praise for cheap junk? Summary: 1 Stars
I'm trying hard to figure out where all the raves are coming from for this product. It's cheap and flimsy, and there's absolutely nothing impressive about it.
First impression out of the packaging is "Oh, wow... I screwed up this time." Cheap grey plastic everywhere. Install it and you'll find that it pivots and wobbles. Snap out the hand-shower and you feel like the whole thing will come down. And the plastic hose looks like something from your kitchen that is hidden beneath the sink (for good reason). Trying the shower, you get a lackluster, weak spray at best, and the whole thing hangs down so far that you have to duck your head to get under the water.
Needless to say, this thing is going back. My advice is to spend the extra $20 and get the full chrome Kohler rain/hand shower that is exclusively sold at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. That one rocks.
Then again, if you wanna learn "you get what you pay for," go ahead and buy this one. :)
Customer Review: Shower for Two Summary: 4 Stars
NOTE: If you're tall, be sure to get the S Shower Arm as well, because it hangs a bit low. It's still a great value and just as easy to install. I'm 6'4" and have no issues using both items together.
My favorite thing about this showerhead is that two people can shower without either one freezing. Usually one person is left out of the water and gets cold, but when you have water coming from the handheld and the head itself, both people can be warm whether they're the latherer or the latheree.
The showerhead is a little hard to tighten to the point of being completely leak-free (I get a couple drips), and the black rubber washers that prevent leaking are loose and easily lost when taking it out of the package so be careful.
Overall it's a great showerhead, and the pleasantness it brings my daily life is worth for more than what I paid.
