Tools and Hardware Reviews of Peltor 97044 Tactical 6S Active Volume Hearing ProtectorCustomer Review: Peltor Tactical rtisky to open Summary: 3 Stars
The Peltor Tactical is a very good hearing protector. My only problem was figuring out the instructions for opening ear parts to insert (and remove) the batteries. It also took considerably more force to open the covers than is practical for frequent removal of the batteries (as suggested in the instructions). Otherwise, no problems.
Customer Review: portable but lacking quality Summary: 2 Stars
To put in batteries is difficult. The ear pads you have to take off are plastic and foam. Very hard to take off, too easy to tear up.
The product literature says the unit provides effective ear protection only if the foam pads are in good shape. It further says that the foam pads have a lifetime of about 6 months.
Customer Review: Pretty good Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, I think the Tactical 6-S hearing protectors are good. It's a little tough to get ear cups out to change the batteries though. You can use the "pull really hard method" or use a screw driver to pop the ear cups out. I recommend the screw driver method if you can find one that fits into the little slot.
Customer Review: Excellent for IPSC/Shooting Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using them for IPSC. They are comfortable to wear and easy to store. The only problem is the background sound that they pick up, but you get used to it. I've been using them for about 4 hours at a time. They are confortable even after hours of continuous use. Great product for IPSC/Shooting.
Customer Review: Not as good as advertised Summary: 1 Stars
Got the hearing protector and read the instructions to install the batteries. What a PITA to get apart. Installed the batteries on each side and the left side is fair but the right side does not work. I emailed the comapny and have not heard back. Save you money and get something else.
