Customer Review: Blanket Robe Thing is a Good Thing

I should preface this review by saying that I purchased the Leopard print version of this recently and was then offered the Zebra print for review. Both look great and it's really a matter of taste in color. I would say the dark color of the Leopard is more subtle, while the Zebra is more unique.
With that said, I also have the sneaking suspicion that Amazon offered these for review because most reviews have been extremely positive, with the exception of people finding it difficult to figure out. It now includes a cardboard instruction sheet with a diagram and short instructions. The Softie comes out of the box looking like a fleece blanket, which might indeed be confusing. However, after following the two-step instructions once, you'll "get it" and never need them again. It also made me appreciate how clever this product was, though it does have its drawbacks.
As with a combo printer and scanner, you expect a combo blanket and wrap to be a bit mediocre at doing both to allow that versatility. However, it is a pretty perfect blanket. The zippers are soft plastic and do not get in the way and the fleece lining is really nice. The insulation really makes this a warm blanket, too. The wrap sacrifices a bit of usability, though. The designers of this product really had to think carefully about what compromises needed to be made. The length is perfect for me at 5'10", allowing me to walk without my feet getting cold, but certainly could be a stumbling hazard for shorter people. The arms are great for basic use, such as punching a remote or eating chitlins, but don't raise your arms to change a light bulb or the snaps will pop off. They can easily be popped back into place, but this restricted movement is a bit offputting at first.
Overall, this is a great comfy product that I highly recommend for yourself or for gifting. When you realize how ridiculous you look in it, be sure to grab the camcorder and come up with some entertaining dances for all your friends. That alone is worth the price.
