Customer Review: Great sheets but I wish they didn't pill

Like others, I do like these sheets but for the fact that after a few washings they do pill up, which destroys the luxurious texture that was so enjoyable when they were new. I've found that most flannel sheets do this. I've had a few sets over the years that remained smooth, and I wish I knew how to select the ones that don't. Label contents don't seem to be an indication of whether or not they will pill up. I wonder if the color (i.e. dye) matters?
At any rate, these are nice sheets, heavier than most. There is quite a bit of lint left in the dryer screen after each laundering, but I've never noticed that it came off during the night. I've washed them about three times now and so have yet to discover if they will get thin as one other reviewer reported.
