This is a quality made tool, but it isn't that effective in setting 1/4" crown staples in hardwood flooring. All I manage to do with it is bend the staple head and break the tounge in the floorboard.
There just simply isn't enough support for the staple to drive it into the board without deforming / bending.

I purchased this setting tool as I thought it would be worth it for the flooring nails that didn't get set. I had a few that needed to be driven in but this tool was not worth the money. The nails bent under the narrow point. A small bolt worked way better and didn't cost twenty bucks. Save your money and use a bolt.Customer Review: Works as Advertised

This is very hard. The important thing about that is that even if you mis-hit the nail, this will not mar or change its tip shape. I used it extensively while putting down about 400 sq ft of floor and it worked flawlessly, better than a regular round awl.
I would recommend for L-shaped flooring nails.

Better than using a standard nail set, but Porta-Nail nails can be problematic to set. Your best bet is to take your time with the Porta-Nailer to get the nail set properly the first time. Hint: Do not let the nailer move at all until the nail is set and the ratcheting ram has reset. A little pricey for a nail set.Customer Review: great nail setting tool

This tool is great, and indispensable for flooring I am using the Bostitch manual nailer MFN200 with Bostitch nails and I may be an amateur or not hitting it hard enough all the time, but this little setting tool cleans up my nailing perfectly. I would not try to do the job without it.
