I put some Bruce Natural Reflections 5/16" floor down a few years ago and used the Bostich stapler and it worked fine, but it's only good for this specialized application. I just installed 500 square feet more in an ajoining room and didn't want to rent, or buy a gun that would be useless for any other application after I was finished. I purchased the Porta-Nailer because it could be converted to a straight stapler also. I used Porter Cable 1-1/4 staples and this tool worked flawlessly. I used the straight stapler to put down 1/4" underlayment first and it was perfect for that too. I can certainly recommend this tool.Customer Review: Totally Awesome!! It made it so easy.

I just completed a 620 square foot Pergo floor in a living room and an 80 square foot Pergo floor in a hallway for a client and this stapler made the job a breeze to complete within 2 days. The ease of use was totally mindblowing. I only had a couple of misfires and not once did it ever jam. I was also loving the fact that the 45 degree angle foot was removable converting it to a tacker as well. One gun took care of both ends of the job instead of having to carry two guns. I would highly recommend this item to the do-it yourselfer and the professionals. This stapler is definitely a keeper for the price.Customer Review: Left me high and dry

The stapler worked OK for about a day, then started shooting twisted staples. It turned out to have a defective nose. I called the company and they offered to send a replacement part. They also wanted me to send them the old part (they would arrange and pay for the shipping). It took some doing getting the old part off, since the threads were glued on really tight. But when the new part arrived, they sent the wrong part. They really should have replaced the whole unit, rather than expecting me to do the repair myself. What an outstanding tool. We did the kitchen and the family room and what a life saver it is. You can't go wrong with this tool and the quality is outstanding. We used 85 lbs. pressure on the regulator and it worked flawlessly. Don't forget to put a couple of drops of oil in the line every day you use it. The price cant be beaten by lowes or home depot. The staples are available from Both stores. NO need to wait 6weeks to get them from amazon, not to say i didnt but now i have an extra box for the rest of the house. Worked great! Love it! Never misfired even once. Many problems with the rented nailer I first tried. None of those with the porta-nailer. Light weight, easy to handle, and the trigger did not require a tight squeeze. However, did not accidentally nail at the wrong moment.
The only thing I had difficulty with, was that it won't nail on it's side. Was unable to nail the quarter round in place when finished with the flooring. Awaiting a response from the factory about this issue.
I would still recommend this nailer to anyone looking for one.
