Tools and Hardware Reviews of Power Bright PB-12 US to UK 3-Prong Travel Outlet Plug AdapterCustomer Review: Not safe Summary: 1 Stars
I just bought one of these in the hope that it might be better than some of the reviews said but I was disappointed. The picture is not accurate as it has a combo US blade and Euro pin recepticle.
The main problem with this is that the US blade prongs do not fit tightly and easily fall out. Because they are so loose they do not make good electrical contact and can easily overheat and burn out.
I took it apart to see if it just needed adjustment and the spring contacts are for a pin prong not a blade. It you are using a euro pin plug it might work but it will not grip and hold a US flat blade.
Even if you use a 3 prong grounded plug in it to stabilize it the blades will not connect securely and will make a partial high resistance connection which can result in it melting and causing a fire.
Do not buy!
Customer Review: simple & affordable Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't have the problems that others had - my plugs (both grounded and non-grounded) stayed plugged into the adaptors. Mine also look like what is pictured. I had no problems and was very pleased with the price, especially as a Prime member, with free shipping.
I do prefer the Samsonite adaptors, they feel more solid, but I got these since these were half the price.
It is worth noting that no, these are not voltage adaptors, and honestly, for under $10 why would they be? Make sure what you're bringing along is 110-220 and you'll be fine with this device.
Customer Review: Power Plug Adapter for Ireland & UK Summary: 5 Stars
We used 2 of these on our recent trip to Ireland and were extremely happy with the under four dollar price from Amazon and the free shipping with Amazon Prime. We purchased a Samsonite version which also worked well but was bigger/bulkier and much more expensive. Our friends didn't have a grounded adapter and some of their items wouldn't charge until they used one of our grounded adapters. Some have plastic ground/earth plugs and don't seem to work with all gadgets.
If you are going to Ireland or the UK I'd strongly recommend picking up a few of these adapters.
Customer Review: Don't buy this one! Summary: 2 Stars
The adapter kept falling out of the wall plug. We had to prop something up against it and it still kept falling out. It works, but it is a pain. My husband literally had to hold it in the wall so that I could blow dry my hair. Please also realize that you must have a dual voltage appliance (hair dryer, etc.) because this is not a converter. Dual voltage hair dryers, straiteners, etc. are easy to find at Walmart, etc. Also, most computers and phone chargers are 120/240 so they are not a problem. Good luck!
Customer Review: No problem for us Summary: 5 Stars
After reading reviews about plugs falling out of the adapter, we decided to buy just one and see for ourselves. My wife is a flight attendant who travels to London multiple times a month. She used it on her last trip with no problems. The US plug stayed in the adapter and the adapter stayed in the UK receptacle. I have no idea if she was lucky or they have improved their product recently but we just ordered five more for friends and relatives attending our son's wedding in the UK this summer.
