Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powerwasher PWS1800-U 1,800 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure WasherCustomer Review: Works great Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this with caution, I heard electric power washers were pretty weak and unreliable. I have to tell you I'm very happy with this one. While not having the power of a gas operated one, this one did the job better than I thought. I used it on my deck which was about 8 years removed from it's previous cleaning. It really cleaned well, I probably should have used a cleaner in conjunction with the unit but it cleaned it pretty thoroughly w/out.
I also used this on my front walkway which is a combination of concrete leading to the front door and a slate walking path up to the concrete. I've never cleaned the concrete and this washer turned it from a very dark, dirty, moldy look to brand new. It also took off a hardened licen/moss that was growing on the slate which made it slick when it rained. The slate looks brand new as well. I will even caution anyone buying this to be careful as to not damage what you are cleaning. It is pretty powerful. I saw chips of the slate coming off so I pulled back on the wand to reduce the pressure.
On a side note, I could tell this being an electric motor, it wasn't good to stress it for long periods of time. I would give it a short break after about 20 minutes of use. The motor did seem to get hot so keep that in mind.
Customer Review: Poor Customer Support Summary: 1 Stars
I owned this unit for 11 months. I was pleased with the light usage that I had been giving it. cleaned sidewalk, washed car from time to time but the unit gave a burning smell and will not start after I attempted to clean my deck for the first time.
What was most frustrating is that customer support has major delays and hold times. The phone never did pick up but the chat session worked with painfully long waits for an agent and then long wait time in between responses to questions and actions where they send me to my yard to try different checks on my failing washer, further they are sending parts for me to replace on the unit. Why can't I take it somewhere or send it back since this is still under the 1 year warranty?
I read the reviews and gambled based on the report of those short term owners that were pleased. As a short term owner so was I. I did not get my money's worth but spent too much to not try to put in the parts they sent. I will not buy another one of these and will not gamble on another product with so many warnings of poor customer support by the manufacturer...
I wonder what will happen with the other owners after about a year or so. Have fun with cust support from the manufacturer... I hope yours lasts longer than mine...
Customer Review: Caution if you decide to purchase this Summary: 1 Stars
Just wanted to alert folks of a problem that I've encountered. I bought a Husky model 2000S Electric Pressure Washer less than a year ago from my local HD. Two weeks ago the pressure gun broke and leaked badly. I found the owners manual for the unit and found that Husky has no phone number.... only a web page. I went to their web page - there is a "chat operator" section for online assistance. I tried it but there is no live chat - only a prompt to enter your email address and comment. I should have taken this as a bad omen but I went ahead and ordered the replacement part anyway. I'm still waiting for email confirmation.
Word to the wise: any time you plan to order online check the company out first on the Better Business Bureau web page "[...]".
When I checked out Husky I found that they were -not- BBB accredited and their rating was an "F". I also found that they appear to be registered as three companies with the following URLs:
[...]
All have the same mailing address:
1825 Greenleaf Ave
Elk Grove Village, IL 60007
I still have not received any email from this company and I would recommend that anyone ordering online first check out the company's rating on Better Business Bureau.
Customer Review: Don't count on customer service for repairs/replacement Summary: 2 Stars
I have been very unsatisfied with the company, FAIP (aka Power Washer) that manufactured this unit. I initially received the power washer on August 7th, it ran well for 20 minutes when the motor started smoking and I shut down the unit. I let the unit cool down then tried to start it again with no success. I contacted the company via their live on-line system (it's impossible to contact them by phone even when you get their number) and they paid to have it sent back for repairs. Since the unit was new I asked for a new unit instead of a repair. They refused and said the needed parts were on back order. I waited for nearly three weeks then received the supposedly repaired unit. It still did not work as the motor would not start. Instead of replacing it they sent me instructions for trouble shooting the unit. From this process they determined that I needed to replace the on/off button. Why wasn't this checked when they had it in for repairs?. I was told they would send a new switch to me with instructions for installation but said it would take another 8-10 business days for delivery. I am waiting patiently but seriously doubt now that the switch is the real or only problem. I will write a new review if it is or is not the solution.
Customer Review: Just like the others Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased the power washer based on reviews and product information.
Was really excited that the power washer would take care of jobs around our home. Opened it up, attached the water hose and plugged it in.
Got to say set up was very easy. Used the washer on our deck.
It seemed to be working well. Turned it off and moved over the pool area to clean the concrete. Plugged it in and this is where it went down hill from there. The power washer came on a second or two and went off. This went on for about 10 minutes and I realized it wasn't going to work. Shut it down, put it away. Several days later tried to use it again and it did the same thing, came on a second or two and went off. Unplugged it and packed it up for return. The notice on the paperwork tells you to call that number, not the place where it was purchased. Well, that was a BIG hassle. Had an on line chat with the customer rep for about 15 min to half hour and at the end she told me to contact AMAZON, the place where I purchased it. AMAZON was great, no hassles, great customer service. Item was picked up quickly and notification was constant until resolution. I give AMAZON 5 stars, the power washer NONE.
