Tools and Hardware Reviews of Powerwasher PWS1800-U 1,800 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure WasherCustomer Review: FAIP PowerWasher 1,800 PSI Electric Pressure Washer Summary: 4 Stars
I don't think all these reviews are for this the FAIP PowerWasher 1,800 PSI 1.6 GPM Electric Pressure Washer, because my FIAP unit has metal inlet & outlet pipes. I opened mine and put it right to work. I ran it at increasing intervals for a little break in (even though I didn't anything about break-in in the manual). At first it seemed a little weaker than my old 1600psi unit, but the pressure seemed to increase as I used it. Since getting it last week, I have washed my truck twice (New England pollen season), my side deck (4x8 feet), the side of my house up to about 10 feet, back deck 14x14 feet, the lawn tractor, snow blower, walk behind leaf blower...and all with very little negative to report. It blew the accumulated oil and dirt mix off and right down to the painted frame on the motors. Even did a little wood carving by having the pencil beam on after trying to dispense some soap ~{:-o
About the only negative, is that it doesn't have a built-in soap container, and the soap pick up didn't seem to be pulling enough liquid to really make a difference so I might try a stronger concentrate.
Overall I think this is a decent little unit for around the house.
Customer Review: Defective Unit Summary: 1 Stars
FAIP PowerWasher 1,800 PSI 1.6 GPM Electric Pressure Washer #PWS1800-U I was very disappointed when I operated the unit for the first time. The pressure pump would not shut off when I released the handle. After trying all the troubleshooting tips in the manual, I had to go to the company's online chat service. It took me a long time to convince him that I had tried all the things listed in the manual. He then said the pressure manifold was out of adjustment and that I would have to take the unit apart to make the adjustment. He e-mailed me the instructions. I'm very handy and was able to follow the rather complicated instructions, but was unable to fix it. The internal and external parts seemed very inferior to me. So, I just decided to return it for credit. Amazon.com was very helpful and isssued me a cost-free return authorization. What a hassle! I then went to Home Depot and bought a Husky 2000 psi unit which, ironically, experienced the same problem. However, i just took it back and exchanged it for a Husky 1800 psi unit that works perfectly. Now I'm satisfied.
Customer Review: Very Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
My wife and I purchased this product in Feb. 2009 and it seemed to work fine for the several times we used it around our residence.
The washer was then stored until March 2010 when my wife took it out to use this Spring. As soon as it started up it was blowing water out the base. Naturally this was one month past the year warranty. After disassembling it enough to look at the source of the problem which appeared to be a crack in the housing, we decided to junk it since the part materials seemed so cheap. Why have it repaired when it was apparent the thing would just keep on having problems and breaking down? To make the story short we just purchased another brand of power washer. Actually the new washer is the Briggs and Stratton electric 1800psi even though it cost $100 more. This washer seems extremely solid and I believe it is being built to last unlike the FAIP Power Washer. I have to accept the blame for purchasing this piece of junk even after reading the Amazon reviews. I am an idiot, please don't make the same mistake. Considering all the 1 and 2 star ratings I'm surprised Amazon continues to carry this washer.
Customer Review: GREAT WASHER! What are all of the complaints about? Summary: 5 Stars
UPDATED/ EDITED
I have had mine for 2yrs and I have taken care of it and treated it gently.
It has worked well many times and never wimpered. Again, yesterday, I used it to clean my home and it did exactly what it is supposed to do. It ran for 5 hours and did exactly what was required of it.
Of course it is a bit fragile. It is a low cost and economically produced piece of equipment. Knowing what I purchased, I knew from the outset that it would have to be treated with kids gloves.
I have never had to take this thing apart for repair or maintenance. I flush the siphon tube with water for a second or two and run fresh water through the pump/spray wand at the end of each use and clear the pump (by running it for a few seconds w/out supply water) and put it away...it works the next time, every time.
I estimate that I have used this thing 20+ times and it worked perfectly and exactly as expected.
I may get another if they are still available, surely I will wear this thing out one of these days.
Customer Review: Didn't work out of the box, bad Customer Service Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered the FAIP PowerWasher overnight, needing to clean something asap, obviously. What I got was a hunk of plastic that did not work right out of the box. I followed all of the directions in the manual in an an attempt to make it work. When that wasn't successful, I didn't ask for a refund, I emailed the distributor for technical help (as they requested in the manual). It took them a week to send me troubleshooting information that was already in the manual that I had already tried before emailing them in the first place. I told them that 2 weeks ago and have not heard a response.
That kind of service (or lack thereof) is annoying to me. If you are going to sell cheap plastic powerwashers that break all the time, at least have the customer service to back it up. Send out a replacement and fix or refurbish the broken one that was sent to me. The only reason I can guess that I have been treated so poorly is that they don't value their customers, which is unfortunate for me.
