Tools and Hardware Reviews of Quint iGaging 11" Digital Protractor With 8" RuleCustomer Review: Excellent ! Summary: 5 Stars
I just got my Digital Protractor hears what I found
Accuracy: off by (0.05 degrees)
Testing it on a extremely accurate surface plate with a extremely accurate 90 degrees angle, at 11" away from point of intersection the line was be off by 0.002" (A piece of paper is about 0.003" thick) Well within the manufactures specks of (0.2' ±)
Good Things;
(1) Accuracy is as good if not better than my manual Protractors
(2) Very well made, like using a set of digital calipers.
(3) LCD display large very clear and easy to read.
(4) Digital readout can flip upside down for odd setups
(5) Battery changing is simple, no tiny screws to lose.
(6) Zero Button- to reset, or to do setups in steps. VERY IMPORTANT !!!
(7) Adjustable tension screw.
(8) You can freeze the readout on the LCD display.
(9) Auto shut off after 10 min. (not mentioned anywhere)
(10) Goes up to 359.9 degrees.
Bad Things;
(1) Accuracy: off by (0.05 degrees) not perfect but super close.
(2) When readout is flipped, the 5 in (000.05 degrees) is missing some LCD lines,
(3) The 2 angle arms have 4 sets of Inch scales (Rulers) on them
1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64 but nothing in "thousands of an inch" or metric.
Unknown Things;
(1) Drop test ? it's gonna happen, but Not yet.
(2) Long term usage, button wear, Accuracy ????
(3) For a controlled test I would need to test 10 or more Digital Protractors, this could be the best in the bunch or the worst, who knows?
Final Conclusion;
Excellent !
$18.90 plus shipping, not bad at all.
But NOT for big jobs, Angle Lines over 10" do it the old fashion way.
If I lost this Digital Protractor, I would definitely order a new one.
