Tools and Hardware Reviews of Quakehold! 88111 Museum Putty Neutral

Customer Review: It Works
Summary: 5 Stars

Several of the most recent reviews of this product haven't been too favorable so I felt I should chime in. I purchased Quake Hold for one specific use: to secure audio speakers (wood cabinet) to a metal speaker stand.

The first time I did not follow the instructions. I used more of the product than the instructions said to use. It seemed to work fine - the speakers were securely fastened. Four years later I decided to replace the speakers and.. I had one heck of a time removing them. I had to use a lot of force to separate the speakers from the stand and it was my own fault for using too much. Once that was done, the putty came off of both the stand and the speaker very easily and left no residue whatsoever.

Next I used the recommended amount to mount new speakers on the stands. After giving it time to set, I tried rocking them and the speakers were securely fastened. Then I decided to replace them after three months. This time it was easier because I had used a much smaller amount. Once again the putty easily came off the stand and the speaker, with no marks. I used it again for another pair of speakers with success.

I have only used Quake Hold for mounting speakers and it works fine. Your mileage may vary on other materials but frankly, I found it hard to believe the reviewers who said it didn't work for them. This thing works almost TOO good.

Customer Review: Names are important - quake hold?
Summary: 5 Stars

The biggest challenge with this product for me was knowing the name of it. Once I got past that, I was able to order the product and it works EXACTLY as described and is great!!

THE NAME CHALLENGE.... I knew what I wanted, something that was sticky enough to hold light weight items or posters in place on a wall or table, re-usable, and wouldn't stick to paint and cause it to peel off or leave residue. I knew it existed, had seen people use it... but what was the product called?

THE ANSWER.... "QUAKE HOLD!". Yeah, never in a million years would I have guessed that. I happened across it by searching on the functionality I wanted in the material and got to this product. I deduct 1/2 star for the product name, but I love this product so much that I give it 5.5 stars, so it is still a 5 star rating :)

THE USE.... this is something everyone should have sitting in a drawer in their kitchen. Need to put up a poster or note on a wall? Use this. Want to hang a small timer on a wall in the kitchen? Use this. Have glass stuff that pets jostle and knock over? Welllll, maybe use this (the pet elephants are still going to break the glass vases).

I joke, for how serious can one be when reviewing putty... but... trust me on this, this is a product you will have no regrets on having around for whenever it is needed!

Customer Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't live without this stuff; this is the third time I have gotten a package of this & it's worth every penny--think "fun tack" but a lot stronger. I have 3 cats who are often airborne, as well as 9 nieces and nephews and this holds the pictures straight on the wall (no, you don't use it to hang pictures, you just use it on the edges) & keeps knicknacks from becoming knick-pieces. It's strong enough that if a child tries picking something up that is being held down with this he can't just pick it right up and so gives up. I even use it outside on my bird feeder. I have a squirrel baffle over my feeder and hanging from the same hook are four guidelines going down to a net than hangs under the feeder so less feed is wasted. I use the putty to hold the guidelines evenly apart on the baffle so they don't get tangled up. It even worked through the winter and since I'm in Nebraska our winter is a good test for it. *****!

Customer Review: Quake Hold is amazing!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed something to anchor a small antique vase to a stand, that wouldn't harm the vase. The people at Scott Laurent Gallery in Orlando suggested museum putty. I couldn't find any locally so I ordered Quake Hold from Amazon. It works great! Once applied (with no waiting period), objects hold tight, but can be removed with a clock-wise twist, and the putty comes right off of the surfaces. We have four active cats, and I trust this stuff enough to display two very large vases which I've anchored to end tables. They haven't budged -- the vases, not the cats. They're everywhere. A little goes a long way too. I ordered four packages and I just finished the first, having also used it to attach fabric to some art glass for display. It's cheap, clean, and does the job. What else could you want? SM

Customer Review: Don't Let Animals Knock Crystal Off Your Furniture
Summary: 5 Stars

Our cat leaps up onto the credenza and end tables where various precious
pieces of china and ceramics usually sit. After she broke an especially
dear piece, I went to various hardware stores, etc. in search of a good
product, but no one seemed to have any. I looked online and found this
amazing product. It's of puuty-like consistence, and you tear a little piece
off and place it on the bottom of the crystal or china object, which you then
gently press onto the furniture surface. The cat now not swipe anything off
the tops of the furniture. I haven't tried to remove any object yet from its
surface, but the package claims that it doesn't ruin the furniture, and that it's
easily removable. And it is so reasonably priced!
