Tools and Hardware Reviews of Quakehold! 88111 Museum Putty NeutralCustomer Review: Save your money Summary: 1 Stars
I was given a one of a kind vase that I havent been able to display because our cat is a climber, with an established path of destruction in his wake.
The vase I wanted to secure has a wide base and isnt very tall, so I thought the putty might work well to give it some stability if it happened to get brushed with an errant tail. Unfortunately, this was not to be.
I followed the directions and still had a hard time even manipulating the shape of the putty, almost as though it had been sitting on a shelf for too long and had gone stale (if that makes any sense). I couldnt get it to stick to the vase or the surface underneath it, at all. It was a complete waste for me, very disappointing.
Customer Review: This stuff is amazing!!! Summary: 5 Stars
As well as looking for a way to help protect my toddler from objects falling during the event of an earthquake I wanted to keep him safe from things toppling when he shakes the side table in the living room. This stuff is amazing!!! It is securing all of my vases, table lamps, and random decorations throughout my home! no matter how hard I shake the table or shelves, it doesn't budge!!! To remove just twist off the object, than use a credit card scrape off any residue and some warm water to clean off the rest. I quickly used a washcloth, and there was no more residue!!! This is a must have for anyone with small children or who are in an earthquake zone.
Customer Review: I'm a potter - putty works well for me. Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a potter and have used this putty to secure my pots on shelves. It works very well. It isn't so strong you risk breakage if you forget and try to pick it up, but it is strong enough to ensure it doesn't get bumped over by accident.
Another great use is behind picture frames to help hold them level. Hang the prints by a wire as usual, but put the putty on the two bottom corners of the print and stick it to the wall once it is level. I might order two if you plan on securing a bunch of stuff. One package is only good for a few things, maybe a dozen assorted pots.
I have no complaints about it so far.
Customer Review: Fantastic adhesive Summary: 5 Stars
As a teacher, I spend an inordinate amount of time putting posters on my classroom walls to inspire and instruct my students. Too many of the products sold for this purpose have proved ... well, "inadequate" would be kind. Coming in each morning to find another poster (or several) on the floor is not the best way to begin the day.
This year, I decided to try some alternatives to the usual types. Quakehold! 88111 Museum Putty is just fantastic. Once up, what it holds stays up. I even subjected it to a severe test - I am using it to hold a framed poster on a paper covered bulletin board. It has not budged a millimeter.
Customer Review: Best alternatives Summary: 5 Stars
This product isn't perfect, but among other products, it's pretty close. I use this stuff for product shots, anchoring frames, holding pottery in place in the china cabinet, display posters, etc, etc. It works great on just about anything that is the tiniest bit porous, glass is a little trickier and you may need more than usual. Museum wax was recommended to me as well, so I purchased that as well with this order. It might have been the thing to use 20 years ago but it just isn't worth the hassle of the mess and clean up to use, not to mention the melting factor. Save your money and stick with the putty.
