Customer Review: Cheaply made and gives inaccurate readings

The hygrometer feels very flimsy and cheap. When you calibrate it sometimes the entire face of the hygrometer will move along with the needle. After calibration I remove the screwdriver and the needle suddenly move 5 degrees off. I had a lot of trouble having the needle stick to the desired calibration point. As I am writing this review, the humidity in my room reads 83% from several sources and the hygrometer gives me a value of 68%. If you're looking for a hygrometer that is accurate and easy to calibrate, this is definitely not what you're looking for.Customer Review: cheap cheap cheap

This is a cheaply made hygrometer. I bought a one step calibration humidipak to make sure that the two analog hygrometers were right on the money. 3 % difference between both units. The bad part is the calibration. Theres a lever in the back of the unit (under the magnet). It is way too easy to bend. That make it virtualy impossible to calibrate afterward. 1 unit down after calibration. I should have know better:"you get what you pay for". You better off buying those things locally so you can return them and not pay 7 dollars in S&H. really not worth it.Customer Review: Can beat the accuracy and price

I thought it was pretty close since I compared it to a friend's $35 digital hygrometer and it was within 1%. I also did the salt test in a sealed bag and it read exactly 75% as it was supposed to.
You can check the calibration yourself with about 2 cents worth of salt and a Ziploc baggy. Just google -> hygrometer calibration salt <- and you will find dozens of links on this easy test.
I am really pleased with this purchase since it lets me set my furnace humidifier at the correct level for the winter.

So after several positive reviews, I ordered this as a replacement one for my 250 stick humidor. It arrived fairly quick, I pulled it out of the box to see this little hygrometer that is way too small to use a replacement for my humidor. Had the proper dimensions been listed on the page (the photos make it look larger than it really is) I would have known that it would not work. No point in returning it since I am already out the shipping. I guess I might try to use it in my travel humidor. For its ridiculously low price, it's plenty accurate. It tested within 1 percentage point right out of the box, but when I tried to calibrate it the little adjustment screw on its back proved very imprecise. With the slightest touch of a small screwdriver, the needle jumped too far too fast. Buy it and test it with a cheap calibration kit (like Boveda one-step calibration) but don't mess with the screw. Simply remember if it's one degree too high or too low and be glad you got it for a few lousy bucks!
