I bought 3 of these to qualify for the free shipping. I have installed one. I Mounted it to a 2X6 and hung it from the rafters of my shop. I use it to hoist my pontoon boat which weighs about 50lb. It easily hoists the boat. I would say it works as described and is a great buy at $10+ each. The screws are junk metal the phillyps head stripping out easly. To use the screws pre drill holes with 1/8" bit to ease entry, but if you think you may want to get them back out someday use better screws! The rope is adiquate for the job. Instructions say it will lift 100lb. I am happy with the product and am sure I will find use for the other two I now have.Customer Review: Some problems

Maybe two-and-a-half stars? The rope supplied was flimsy, frays easily, and will need to be replaced soon. The two "hooks" were actually L-shaped, would not reliably hold my bike seat and handlebars, and had to be reshaped on a vise. Installation was difficult, requiring mounting the unit on a 2x4, climbing a ladder with it, holding the unit in place with one hand, and starting the screws with the other hand. Two persons and two ladders would be really nice (and much safer).
But, the price was good. And (if you have a 12-foot ceiling in your garage), it is nice having the bikes completely out of the way, with foot traffic underneath.

After reading reviews here, I was worried about the rope that comes with the kit. I didn't need to worry, it is much better than I was expecting. I just installed the lift this weekend and even my wife loves using it - she only complained about the bike not lifting evenly and that was easily overcome. No more of the cheap hooks that you have to lift the bike upside down to use - she was never able to do that and her bike was always in the middle of the garage because of it. Easy to install (without using a 2x4 like mentioned). More than worth the $ and we will probably buy 2 more for the kids bikes.Customer Review: Excellent value!

I purchased four of these hoists for a small adult road bike, a large adult mountain bike, a small adult mountain bike, and a child's bike. They easily lift and store all sizes of our bikes. Even my 10-year old can get his bike up and down using the hoist. They have a great locking mechanism so you don't have to tied the rope down to secure the bike in the up position, and you can use it to securely "hold" the bike on the way up or down if you need to. The rope seems a bit skimpy, but as other reviewers said, can be easily replaced if it starts to fray. Phenomenal value at $14.95.Customer Review: Very nice ceiling mount

I did a lot of research and bought this mount based on the reviews. This was NOT a quick and simple project like hanging a flat panel TV. This installation took some time to do all the measuring, finding the joist location in the attic, pre-drilling holes, painting the 2X4, etc. but it looks and works great. My only advice is to take your time and measure several times. We did not use the supplied screws we used longer wood screws for the 2X4 and better quality screws for the mounting plates. We also bent the hooks a little bit to hold my bike seat better.
