Tools and Hardware Reviews of RAD Cycle Products Ceiling Mount Bike Hoist

Customer Review: Great product, great price
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent ceiling mount bike pulley system. The quality of the items if very good. Unlike others, I had no issue with the quality of the rope provided with the kit. The only questionable part of the kit is the wood screws provided by the manufacturer, which are of poor quality. Since I keep lots of screws on hand in my shop, this was not an issue for me, as I simply used by own wood screws. I would definitely recommend this product. You simply can't this great quality at this price elsewhere.

Customer Review: wasted space
Summary: 2 Stars

My husband and I got these thinking that they would open up floor space in our garage. Well, it did open up space, and they are easy to get up and down (we use them for our moutain bikes)...however, the space left under them is wasted. You cannot store under them because 1) you need to be able to lower them to the ground and 2) the bikes still hang pretty low so you cannot walk or store anything of height under them. Personally, I think a verticle double stack wall mechanism would be a better space saver.

Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for!
Summary: 5 Stars

Easy installation. I used different screws like other's have mentioned, but that's not because the other screws weren't sufficient. I just don't particularly like the panhead screws. I threw in some 3" coarse drywall screws. I also mounted it on a 2x4 first, then screwed the board into a joist. That made it easier to size it up to the bike first. That string is like the length of a football field, so yeah, it might need to be trimmed. But that doesn't take anything away. I got 4 of 'em and I love 'em.

Customer Review: Great and the price is right.

1/2 the cost of another model - but totally functional.
I do wish the two flat "hooks" on each side looked like this "L". Instead they are more like an Arial "L"s (without the hook). That means you need to get them mounted directly above where they hook and be more careful about moving the bike as you hoist it. The anti-drop rope stops work well enough to be the sole clamp when hoisted. I tie off the rope to the provided cleats but without tension. I have a wheelbarrow hanging from one of them.

Customer Review: Beware
Summary: 1 Stars

This is absolute garbage. I bought it thinking I was getting a deal, but when I got it put up, the rope wouldn't stay on the pulley, and when it came off, it jammed the whole mechanism. Then one of the ropes stopped moving, the bike fell off the hooks and I was lucky that I wasn't under it. If you choose to buy it, be sure to wear a hard hat and shoulder pads when raising or lowering your bike, and be sure to only use bikes that you don't care about. Good luck.
