Tools and Hardware Reviews of Racor PBH-1R Ceiling-Mounted Bike LiftCustomer Review: Perfect bike storage solution, easy installation, great product Summary: 5 Stars
I have spent the last few weeks reorganizing my garage, installing tool racks, a heavy duty workbench, but I had a nagging problem of where to store our two mountain bikes.
I did some research and found this Racor ceiling-lift bike pulley. I initially wanted to purchase the more expensive, "ultimate" version, but figured so many people had given positive reviews to this product that there was no reason to spend $40 extra per pulley.
I am very pleased with this product. It was easy to install, the pulley/locking mechanism works exactly as expected, and I now have the perfect storage option for our bikes.
The box was packed with quality and the metal pulley system is sturdy and effective. The directions were easy to follow.
Highly recommend.
Customer Review: A good deal for the price Summary: 4 Stars
After passing up similar units in the $50 range, I jumped at the chance to buy one @ $16. It arrived in good order, all parts included, with a decent set of instructions in English & Spanish. The pully plates are sturdy & nicely finished and the hooks articulated to accommodate many bikes. It's fully installed now and my bike's safely tucked into the ceiling of my garage. The only downside is that I can't get the "drop prevention" mechanism to work properly, and if I raised and lowered the bike daily it would be very annoying; as it is, the bike goes into storage in late fall and out in the spring, so I just tie it off to the cleat and it's not too much of a problem. For the money, this is a good deal, but not for the frequent user (unless you can adapt the release ratchet).
Customer Review: storage saver Summary: 4 Stars
After the headache of an install onto the ceiling of my garage (tall garage; drywall); these bike racks work wonders. I bought 2 after seeing a neighbor had a similar lift. Thinking it'd be good for our bikes I quickly got em and tried to install them (Note tried).
It took a little while to figure out the best way to get them onto the garage ceiling, though after the struggle in the install, I'm loving the space. They easily lift each bike smoothly and the lock mechanism is simple; just like a window blind. The rope so far has held up though is rough on the hands when sliding through your grip.
Overall, these bike lifts are great. They are well worth the hassle of installing them, and some may have an easier time with studs exposed in the garage.
Customer Review: Not just for bicycles Summary: 5 Stars
When I first saw this bike lift, I thought that it would better than turning my bike upside down and lifting it up to hang on the hooks installed in the celing of my garage and boy was I right.
I purchased Three of these and they work great.
The other two I had another Idea for. I have a Cap on my truck and it is some what of a pain to take off when I have to haul things, so I thought that by installing two sets of these under my carport, I would be able to hoist the Cap up off the bed.
With a little planning I mounted the two sets parallel to each other under the carport. Now all I have to do is back the truck up under the carport hook it up to the lift and hoist the Cap up and drive away. Just as easy to put back on.
Very glad I bought them.
Customer Review: Easy to install, cheap, and functional. Works for me! Summary: 5 Stars
This product was easy to install and did exactly what it advertises with no hitches. The instructions were very clear and I was able to use the included wood screws with success after drilling the required pilot holes, although my garage joists are bare with no drywall covering them. The hooks appear to be angled well enough to hold onto the bike's seat and handle securely.
I did cut the rope to a shorter length (while the bike was on the ground) despite the instructions warning not to. I left about a foot of extra slack and still has several feet of rope left over. The rope itself seems to be good quality and I don't foresee any issues. The bike moves up and down evenly and with little effort. I will most likely be buying another one of these soon.
