Tools and Hardware Reviews of Racor PBS-2R Two-Bike Floor Bike StandCustomer Review: Could have a better design Summary: 3 Stars
Assembly can take longer than you expect due to the instruction sheet provided. It does not indicate that the upright tubes need to be inserted in only one correct direction. After figuring that out it seem to come together quite well and upon completion I was quite happy with it. It's sturdy and stable.
But as others have mentioned bikes with large 28" tires don't fit properly (27" also won't fit... from another reviewer). The tire hits the top of the wheel support tubes and will not touch the floor. I feel that they should disclose size accomadation in the specs. I'll probably keep the rack but these are a few things potentials buyers should be aware of. FYI, my bikes are both Hybrid types with 700C tires (28").
Customer Review: Best I have found Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried several stands similar to this in order to store bikes in my garage. The problems I have found with others are that if you get a single bike stand it is not wide enough to give support from the whole thing, including bike, to tip over with even the slightest bump. The other issues is that the side support on the wheel in the stand is not does not secure the bike well enough to keep it from falling over and out of the stand (mostly an issue for heavier bikes). I was impressed that this stand resolves both of these issues, and works well enough I have gotten two of them. I also like the fact that it is built in a sturdy manner, many others are made to be fast to put together and compromise the stability of the stand.
Customer Review: Quality product at a good price Summary: 4 Stars
This bike stand was just the thing we needed.
We have to store our bikes under a deck against a house. This was just the thing to keep them upright and not leaning against the wall or each other.
It's fairly high quality steel, and is very sturdy when put together.
I chose to attach mine to a piece of plywood so that it would not move around when we were parking or removing our bikes...and so far that has worked out well.
My only complaint is that when rear-parking my flat-bar road bike (has 700 x 23 tires), the stand rubs up against the rear derailleur a little. This is not a big deal really...
Besides that, the thing is awesome, especially for the price!
Customer Review: Works once put together Summary: 4 Stars
I have two of these and had some difficulties putting them together. The instructions don't tell you which way to align the pieces, but the alignment matters, so you can put it together part of the way and then realize it's wrong and have to disassemble and redo it. Also some of the pieces did not fit into their respective holes without really pushing them in hard, and a couple of the screws didn't match the threads well, so I had to crank them in separately to "open up" the threads and then take them out and put the pieces together. Otherwise the bolts were impossible to get in. But, once it's assembled, it's a stable stand that does a good job of supporting bikes, especially those with wider tires.
Customer Review: Just what I needed Summary: 5 Stars
Given the range of reviews for this item, I was a little reluctant to purchase. Ultimately, I could not bear having my bikes lean stacked up against the wall. It was such a burden to move them all to get to the one I needed. It finally arrived and I was going to make sure I assembled it correctly as some people had some issues. I did not have any issues (beyond my own!). You can figure out how to put it together with one quick glance at the provided instructions. It is a great product, easy to assemble, has a nice weight, and I've got my two road bikes sitting happily in their new home. The walls have been cleaned too! I've buying another for their siblings just as soon as I finish this review.
