We've used this thermometer all over the house. It identified 'cold spots' needing insulation in walls, around doors, windows, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures on walls and ceilings. We keep ours in the kitchen to measure the temperature of soup, coffee, and other hot foods. It's even a great cat toy!Customer Review: Not accurate

Between the readings taken with a K type thermocouple and this non contact thermometer there is a wide variation much more than the tolerances set out in the manual.I was measuring the case temperature of a Power IC.Also the Laser spot is wide off the focus.

I bought to check for air leaks around the house, it does a good job and seems to be accurate.I have a toaster oven that doesn't let you set temperature just has frozen food,bake,casserole...settings so this gives me an idea what it's temp. really is.Amazon had the best price and shipping was very fast.Customer Review: Not really a toy...

Bought this to check surface temperatures on an antique engine, with great results. I will admit I had a lot of fun checking the temperature of the freezer, oven, skillet, among other things. This product is essential to see if your air conditioning is working correctly. I use it (like the professionals) to monitor the temperature of the air coming out of the ventilation ducts. There are also other useful applications, like checking the refrigerator & freezer temp's.
