They?ve come up with a cleverly redesigned line of hammers, a measuring tape you can write on, a Phillips head that fits a wide range of crosspoint sizes, and this: a utility knife with a super-fast blade change.

The RapidSwap blade-change system is well-named, and it?s so unique that it?s been awarded a patent. Blade swapout is as fast and easy as can be. Extra blades store right in the tool, inside the incredibly rugged, fits-your-hand metal body. The handle is wrapped in a cushy, slip-resistant grip, and the angle of the knife itself, while slight, actually makes a big difference in the amount of effort you have to exert when using it. If you?re opening cartons throughout your shift, this will have you whistling while you work. We think it?s an especially good choice for anyone suffering from carpal tunnel, repetitive strain, arthritis or other hand and arm problems because it?s so much easier to use than other utility knives.

The Redback Story
When a serious 2002 motorbike accident ended Australian carpenter Jake Tyson's career as a tradesman, he focused his energy on improving a tool that had remained unchanged for more than a century?the simple hammer. The end result was the Maxistrike, a hammer with a patented arc shaft that allows users to drive nails over obstacles like joists and piping. When he found that large tool companies weren?t interested in his idea, Tyson decided that he had to market the hammer himself.

Redback launched the Maxistrike in November 2003 and saw it win the "Dealer?s Pick" award at that year?s American Hardware Show.
