Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rite Lite LPL623 5 LED Puck Light 3 Pack - Grey

Customer Review: Nice little lights!
Summary: 4 Stars

As the other reviews indicated, these lights are very bright for their size. I had the old dome touchlights, and they drained batteries very quickly while emitting very low light. The new LED lights are a vast improvement. I can actually find items in my small closet now. I have only one complaint. One of the lights does not turn off completely, so the batteries will probably drain faster than the others.

Customer Review: Terrific!
Summary: 5 Stars

We live in Miami and are plagued with power outages related to bad weather and hurricanes. These lights are great and make my son feel secure that if the power does go out, he can always have an emergency light in every room. We also have used these to illuminate areas during hurricane related outages so that our pets, who are quite old, can find their way around the house. I first got these at Costco right after Hurricane Wilma (no power for 8 days....) and continue to stock up on them. They are definitely worth the price.

Customer Review: no plug light works!
Summary: 4 Stars

These lights work well- they arent as bright as a 'normal' closet light might be, but I put three in my coat closet where there is no light and it works well. I have one closer to the floor so we can see what is there and what is behind the coats (we have shelves back there).
You can angle the light to shine in the direction you prefer. This was a good choice.

Customer Review: Excellent cordless lights!
Summary: 5 Stars

These are excellent lights for places where you can't readily install a powered light fixture, or for emergency preparations (in the car, with your home emergency supplies, for power outages, etc.). Each light is powered with three AAA batteries, and have five LED bulbs inside. The front cover is such that the light is evenly distributed, not as five individual light dots. The battery life on LED lights are far superior to the halogen light bulbs. I'm using 1.2V NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries and they work just fine (one word of advice: If you do decide to use rechargeable batteries, go for the Sanyo Eneloop batteries that hold their charges for a long, long time--the Eneloops are supposed to hold 85% of their charges after 1 year in storage; most NiMH batteries lose their charge in weeks).

Highly recommended!

Customer Review: Light is good, but ...
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought 6-pack version, which appears to have the same
light, so my review should apply to the 3-pack as well.

I needed lights to stick on the mirror of a cabinet
and some other places. So, I read and re-read the description
of this item: (* A great way to provide lighting ... * Light swivels 360? and pivots 30? ... * 5 bright white LEDs last up to 100,000 hrs. * 3 AAA batteries required ...)

But can the light stick to a mirror? How big it is?
How heavy it is? They mention shipping weight, but not
individual items weight and size. This is what makes
online shopping so frustrating - you cannot see or touch
the product and lazy vendors and lazy Amazon don't
bother to provide adequate description.
Luckily, the same light also sold in 3-pack package,
which has completely different description, which includes
"Includes stick and look tape or hard mount". But is it really the
same model? May be 3-pack does include
the tape, but 6-pack does not? How to tell?

OK, I bought the 6-pack - it does, in fact, has the sticky
pad on each item and it sticks on the mirror just fine.
The size is 3.5 inches in diameter and 2 inches thick.
Why they didn't say it in description? Don't they have
a measuring tape in China or they are just lazy?
For all that frustration I took one star off.

Most electronic devices allow batteries to be removed
with fingers without any tools. But these lights
have such tight plastic battery holders, that I had
to use a knife and significant force to remove the
batteries and now my fingers are covered with
bloody cuts and scratches. Another star off.

The lights are installed in closets and other
places, where their light is not visible from
outside. So, I keep forgetting to turn the lights off
and have to replace the batteries almost daily.
I use rechargeable batteries, which provide
about 10-12 hours of light.
I would like them to add a buzzer to each light,
which would make a short beep every few minutes
when the light is on. This would save me a lot
of trouble with battery removing/recharging.
Even is the light with a buzzer will cost more,
I would buy it.
