Prized by woodturners for their numerous openings and voids which result in fantastic patterns and textures. Interior figuring once turned is similar to Bird's Eye. Color and texture similar to Walnut Burl. Easy to cut or turn (due to voids, always turn toward center). Relatively hard towards center of pod and will take detail nicely. This item is the seed pod from the Banksia tree (an evergreen tree which grows in Australia). Approx. 6" to 10" long (Average 7" - 8"). Approx. Dia. 2-1/2" to 4" (Average 3").Lumber Tools
