Customer Review: A necessary evil on your mower

I bought this because- like you i am sure!- the one on my mower somehow managed to break itself in three pieces. I splurged and bought the complete hardware-included kit because something told me getting this little item off was going to be about as much fun as getting the rear wheel off was when it needed to be patched, and probably sacrifice as much associated hardware. I was right! Actually, it was even more fun, because me and my super cool neighbor got to use every wicked tool in his very well-equipped garage getting the original spindle off my mower, and we destroyed every seized nut in the process. But I digress.
This part came to me from a company called Dam-something-or-other in, get this, a slightly padded, totally mangled ENVELOPE. It was broken when it arrived, indicating that the quality metal used in this 'heavy-duty' replacement spindle was about as heavy-duty as metal in the original fractured part. But it was still usable, and my fence was rapidly disappearing under my unmowed lawn, so I just ran with it. Anyway, it was "Dam" cheap, so in the end I can only say that I wish I had bought three more of them, so that I can replace them annually before they become one with my mower deck, and then shatter in place. After all, my neighbor and I are totally ready to join to Craftsman pit crew, we can drop a mower deck in five seconds flat now.
Anyway, it's a crappy part that all you Craftsman owners will need one day, so suck it up and buy this one with the hardware. You might want to also purchase a compressor and nice set of impact wrenches, and a good propane torch while you are at it.
