I bought this steamer about a year ago and I have used it a handful of times on different rugs that had different levels of cleanliness (all the rugs/carpets were in good shape by the way). After purchasing this Dirt Devil Easy Steamer Deluxe, I experienced a classic case of "you get what you pay for." This steamer makes almost no difference in how the carpet looks, after I'm finished using it. Mild stains remain -- forget it when it comes to tougher stains. Most times, the cleaner leaves what looks like "rake marks" on the carpet. Imagine raking sand in a Japanese garden. That's what the carpet looks like after vacuuming it with this product. The lighter areas of the rake marks indicate where the steamer is actually working. It's a bummer knowing that I can't achieve that over the entire area I'm cleaning. I do not recommend this product (which was bought after a lot of online research). Find another option or go the professional cleaning route.
