Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rust-Oleum 223081 Magnetic Primer

Customer Review: Not so good
Summary: 1 Stars

Ok, so we read the directions carefully, went to the store to have it shaken, came home used a 6inch foam roller and started the project..... NOT GOOD.... So far i've done 4 coats on a 4'x4' square and it won't hold up my sons little magnet letters,(i'll keep painting till the paint can is empty, even though i know i should stop b4 i'll have to take out the sander and sand the layers off my wall) like others i thought this was a great idea for my sons playroom... lesson learned i guess

Customer Review: terrible
Summary: 1 Stars

I am so sorry to say that this product is not what it is advertised to be. I followed all directions and find that the only magnets which will stick are the flat thin kind (think busines card magnet). A heavy magnet, even a strong one, will not adher. I am really dissappointed in this. I managed to hang up one piece of paper with two thin, flat magnets, until one magnet popped off. I would expect a better product at this price. Try something else, don't get your hopes up!

Customer Review: Rust Oleum Magnetic Primer
Summary: 3 Stars

I agree with most folks here. It takes several coats of primer to get anything to stick. I am currently on my fourth coat. A magnet will stick to it but will not hold anything (like pictures). One thing I did do was have it shaken in the paint department, which seemed to make no difference. When I got home there were huge chunks of sludge in the bottom and needed to be stirred heavily anyway. Good luck!

Customer Review: doesn't wrok

I Decided to use it to make a magnetic side of a entertainment center (just the top portion). I put about 15 coats and never got it to actually hold a magnet. I called rustolium, they were very helpful. told me to sand it, add more coats, which I did but still didn't work. Don't waste your money. By the way I did stir it over and over and over again.

Customer Review: Cool thought but not what you think it will be
Summary: 1 Stars

Loved this idea for holding up kid's art on the wall with magnets vs. push pins creating holes etc. I followed directions and only small light weight magnets will stay up and forget about a holding up a piece a paper even with a strong rare earth magnet as well. Very disappointed will be returning it to the store I purchased.
