Tools and Hardware Reviews of Factory Reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 25.4cc Gas-Powered Variable-Speed Hand-Held Blower/Vacuum/MulcherCustomer Review: lasted four years Summary: 3 Stars
I bought the Riyobi leaf blower about November 2005 and was pleased with it. I found the vacuum attachment was useless to me. It sucks up dry leave fine but when it does it sucks up an awful lot of dust. Doesn't work well on pine needles or wet leaves. But it worked fine as a leaf blower.
At about two years it stopped working, just sputtered to a stop. I started taking things apart to see if I could fix it and found the carburetor and manifold had shaken loose. The screws had come loose. After tightening it down it worked fine. Had to tighten them again every few months but it kept working. I've probably put a few hundred hours of usage on it from Nov 2005 to February 2009. I have a lot of trees on my half acre.
It won't start now, it won't generate a spark. I've tried new spark plug but it won't spark when I pull the handle while watching for a spark to jump the gap. So this one appears to be dead. I guess four years isn't bad for a $99 machine but it would be nice if it had lasted longer.
Customer Review: terrible experience Summary: 1 Stars
I recently purchased the Ryobi reconditioned gas blower and it basically did not work...The blower did start however when you tried to increase the speed and power from the idle/start position it would always stop working..I tried numerous times to let the Ryobi blower warm up and then increase the speed but every time the motor would quit...It also took me probably 25 to 30 pulls to start a cold engine...so i really had a bad experience...the next step was to try and return the item however if you purchase a gas powered item you are not eligible for a return or a refund...I had never heard of this policy before so i wanted to let Amazon customers know this information..Prior to this experience i have had nothing but positive buying experiences with Amazon...I did write a complaint email to Amazon about the fact the Ryobi gas blower never did work and they decided to give me a one time refund to my account so i am very appreciative they would do this for me..
Customer Review: Blower condition and vendor experience. Summary: 4 Stars
The Ryobi blower/vacuum is in good, used condition. Some of the tubes and collection bag look new, but the main unit shows signs of use, especially the vacuum blades. It starts easily and seems to work fine. I have seen slightly cheaper units on ebay but they are not selling so you might save a couple dollars by bidding on one of those. Don't forget to factor in the shipping charges!
The vendor (CPO) gets the reconditioned blowers directly from Ryobi and does not check them out before sending them out. First, I got a chain saw rather than a blower, then I got two (unacceptable) blowers that were a different part number and slightly different from what I ordered. The second was very dirty and quite worn with some obvious damage. The vendor was very pleasant, appologetic and accommodating. They covered all return expenses. Eventally I got the correct part number and am pleased. I bought another item from CPO and had no problems with that one...
Customer Review: to buy or not to buy, that is a question? Summary: 5 Stars
Myself and my beautiful wife, own two rental 4 unit buildings in sunny Miami, and i needed a good blower when we cut the grass and blow off the side walks, and stuff.so we took a trip to homedeepoo, about 3 weeks ago to buy another blower, ours died and was put in the trash... anyway here it is ,pay attention, im going to ask questions later!!! We are in HD< and im looking for the one like i had, guess what? they dont have it any longer, i stated to my wife that it was too good, so its gone ,,,all the new ones they sold were peaces of chit, (sorry) bewildered we left...my wife said to go on line ,i did and the rest is history...I wasnt sure id done the right thing, you know, buying a reconditioned machine ,we have used it twenty times already and im quite happy with it, only thing is dont shelf it,,its really great, period...I will buy from again, and ill tell all my friends of how happy we are with the purchase ,,,,here in sunny ,Dino and Pam .
Customer Review: cheap tool you get what you pay for Summary: 3 Stars
Arrived in good time, could of been packaged better, did not look quite new but close. I bought mainly for the vac part? The tube falls off easy, but with a little modifaction it worked for about 1 mo I put two small screws to hold the tube in place and it works fine. It does have lots of sucking power, will suck up most anything at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle with no trouble. For 79.00 + tax it's a good deal compared to 129.00 + tax at home depot. But if you plan on useing the vav part much plan on doing a little modifaction to it like I did or don't bother with it. continueing to have proplem with tube fallimg of the plastic is so thin that the screws make the hole bigger and then the tube falls off again. It would probley be fine as a blower but don't bother if you need the vac a total waste of time. Spend a the few hundred to buy a better one and only have to do it once. I'm trying to clue the vac tube on there now, Ha what a joke.
