Tools and Hardware Reviews of Factory Reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 25.4cc Gas-Powered Variable-Speed Hand-Held Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher

Customer Review: a nightmare
Summary: 1 Stars

I always thought that Ryobi was a good product.
However, I didn't know that their stuff is reconditioned.
I took a chance and purchased a gas blower from them.
You could tell it was reconditioned. Items packed loosely in the box.
Didn't look too bad. Filled it up with recommended fuel mix. Followed all instructions on priming, etc.
Took at least 10 pulls to start it. I figured 1st time would be a little harder for gas to get up into system.
Did it again the next day, and the next. Same problem.
Then I tried it again and pull start cord came out, but would not retract. Totally useless at this time.
I sent it back for a credit on my account.
I spoke with a person who does lawn work who had similar problems. He had to send his back 2 times before he got one that worked. I couldn't be bothered.
Rather get another brand which is brand new. No more recons for me.

Customer Review: Ryobi Used or Reconditioned Facts You Should Know
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading all the reviews I decided to take a chance with a reconditioned Ryobi blower. Why? Ryobi gas engines are some of the best in the business, bar none. I had one that was 20 years old. It only stopped working because one of the plastic gas lines deteriorated due to age. Other than that, the engine still ran strong.

The reconditioned unit arrived with all new attachments. The engine looked in new condition. No sign or smell of gas in the gas tank. The only downside was the casing was dirty and scratched on the bottom. This is a nit after a season of blowing grass clippings and leaves.

The engine kicked in with about 3 pulls the first time. One pull is all it took after the first start out of the box.

Hard to beat the price and value of this blower with an outstanding and relible reputation of the Ryobi gas engine.

Customer Review: Ryobi blower
Summary: 4 Stars

I did lots of research trying to find a good blower at a reasonable price. Checked all the the big stores and could not find one that was rated very good within my budget. You can find blowers that have a good rating if you want to spend $160.00 or more. All the cheap ones have terrible reviews. I finally settled on this blower because I have a Ryobi gas trimmer that has given me no problems for 8 years. I figured if it did not work out I was only out $75.00. I chose the free shipping and received it in about 6 days. It did have a few scratches on it and could have been a little cleaner but overall it was in good condition. I read and followed all the instructions to the letter. I put gas in and followed the starting instructions and it started on the first pull and ran like a champ. I have used it 5 times since first receiving it and it starts on the first pull every time.

I received this and had it assembled in a jiffy. It starts easily and does a decent job for a 24 cc engine.

CONS: It was running lean at high speeds out of the box. The fuel mixture adjustments are readily accessable BUT, THEY CANNOT BE ADJUSTED EASILY!!!
(EPA STRIKES AGAIN!!)
After attempts with several tools, I was able to turn the high speed adjusting screw. If I have to do any more adjustments, i will cut slots in the adjustment screw heads with a Dremel tool.

After adjustment was done, it ran great. Too bad it was not adjusted properly at the factory.

I didn't buy this for the vacuum feature as vacuuming is VERY tedious. It is a good product selling point but that's it, in my opinion. Furthermore, if you vacuum up stones or other hard objects, you would likely break the blower impeller.

Customer Review: Does what it should for nearly 1/2 the price
Summary: 5 Stars

We just moved into a new house with a lot of surrounding trees and it is fall. This has paid for itself 10x over. Started up with no problems, has cruise control feature so you don't need to keep the trigger pulled all the time, and goes for a long time on one tank. It isn't too noisy either (for a 2-stroke motor).

I havent' tried the vac/mulch option but actually plan to this afternoon. I've got moved a few thousand cubic feet of leaves with this thing over the last week or so (could fill an inground pool, easily) and now have to compost/mulch it so it takes up less space. Looks like you just put the tube on what serves as the intake on the blower function. Hopefully it won't get messed up.

I like it, it does the job, didn't cost a fortune and is a huge time saver.
