Tools and Hardware Reviews of Emergency Fire StarterCustomer Review: Poor packaging Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased the item to give to my husband for Christmas. When I opened the box, the item itself fell out of its packaging. The plastic bubble pack that held the fire starter kit had just lifted up completely, so the item fell out. It was too late for me to re-order and the item itself seemed fine, so I taped it all back together and presented it to my husband as planned. This is the first time I've ordered an item from Amazon and have had any complaints so this was surprising.
Customer Review: Emergency Fire Starter Summary: 4 Stars
This was ordered for my grandson, who is studying and into survival training(hence the book) and this fire starter. He does some camping. He has this in his emergency kit with 1st aid, etc. He and his Dad have tried this, and it was a little slow but they kept working on it. He is pleased to have it. It arrived in good condition and a little ahead of promised time. Barb
P.S. bought though Amazon,, like most of the things I get. They have not disappointed me yet.
Customer Review: Great survival item at a great price! As seen on Survivor! Summary: 5 Stars
These really work, and this is the best price I have seen. Get several, so you can keep one in your pocket when hiking, your daypack, your purse and your briefcase even.
Order an extra so you can try it out. Some practice is an excellent idea, and at this price, you can afford to get an extra one just to practice with.
Carry one with you, and hopefully we'll never have to see your name and the phrase "...his body was later found" together!
Customer Review: worked like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
at first i just bought it as a novelty item for summer camping that's coming... and bang in my first, second and third try... this bad boy performed striking a fire just about anywhere... a little tip here, use paper on the floor (or really dry leaves, one big enough to hold all the shavings together), start shaving the magnesium and make a little bunch... it's all about aiming now, strike the flint, while aiming at the little bunch and bingo...
Customer Review: Hey, it works! Summary: 4 Stars
with something lke this, the big thing is: does it work or not? The short answer is, yes indeed it works. And the price is pretty fair.
I wouldn't use this as the primary means of starting a fire if you have other options. It will take quite a while to get a flame and thus a fire, although with practice I probably could be more effective. But if you're looking for a piece of survival, fall-back gear this fits the bill well.
