Customer Review: good for the price, but I'd rather pay more for better chisels

I bought these for my brother's birthday. We were hoping for a super sharp edge, but these were sharpened on a pretty rough grinder, leaving an edge that is a little ragged. They're also a little too thick, so the angle of the edge is pretty steep, which makes it harder to cut with these. If you use a mallet they work okay, but they definitely remind me more of a $20 no-name knife set from the Christmas Tree Store than a nice Wusthoff. In my opinion, it's better to spend a little more money for 4 really nice chisels that will take and hold a great edge. Then you can use less force when carving (which is safer and easier) and get a cleaner cut, too.

That being said, they'll be good enough for my brother for at least a few months of practice. I think that's where these fit the bill. They are cheap enough that you can buy them, practice with them, even trash them a little, and then replace them with really good ones later without regretting the money spent on these.
