Tools and Hardware Reviews of SE 8 LED + 1 Laser Pointer Flashlight, Black

Customer Review: Nice, cheap laser
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a laser to use for presentations that takes AAA batteries instead of button batteries. I saw some "military grade" green laser pointers for sale, but this was less expensive and not too bulky. (I don't worry about how I look holding a small flashlight in my hand in class). As others have noted, there is only one control: you hit a button once to turn on the flashlight and twice to turn on the laser; hit it a third time to turn off. It comes with a nice nylon case and a small strap. It fits nicely in my palm. The light is bright and the laser point does tend to widen a little (although I don't have the "galaxy" pattern that someone else mentioned) with distance, but that makes it easier to see for presentations. One problem I've noted is that the button can get pressed accidentally in my bag--this happened once and nearly drained the batteries, so I had to replace them. It takes 3 AAA batteries that fit into a cartridge in the handle.

Customer Review: Great Value
Summary: 5 Stars

These are a great value. For $5 - $6 you can't go wrong.

Pros -
Bright Light
Compact size
Inexpensive
3x AAA batteries (included)

Cons -
No adjustment of the focus
click once to turn light on, click a second time and the laser pointer comes on, click a third time to shut all off - separate buttons or another mechanism to only have the light on while you're holding down the button would be nice.

I bought several of these - for the cars, and a few to stash around the house. Anytime I need a flashlight, I go for this one instead of one of the more expensive flashlights I own (MagLite/Gerber). After several months of use, I haven't had a single issue with any of the ones I purchased.

Customer Review: Great price, works as advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

For the price this flashlight can't be beat. Bought it primarily as a play toy for our cat (cats love to chase a laser spot) and was tired of replacing button batteries in other laser pointers. This works great and uses AAA batteries, which last longer and are easier to replace. The LED flashlight functions well also, very bright for the size. Only two other comments: The laser 'spot' is larger than that on other pointers I have used, which our cat doesn't care about but you might. Also, there is only one switch - you press it once to light up the LED lights, a second press turns off the LED's and turns on the laser, a third press turns the laser off. Separate switches would be more convenient, but for this price who can complain? Comes with a storage pouch also.

Customer Review: Good, cheap, get what you pay for.

Nothing special about this. It's outside construction holds up well, the laser does not. I purchased two of these, 1 was replaced through Amazon very easily because the laser was terrible. The remaining two lasers work but the quality of the dot leaves something to be desired.

I think the laser part is worthy of a 2-Star deduction but for the price of ~$5 I don't think you could expect that much out of it.

Anyway, works as a three setting unit, Off, LED light, Laser light. LED has low distance and the Laser is low quality but hard to beat at the price.

PS. the battery piece is a pretty cool feature. You mount the batteries in a removable clip setup and slide it back into place.

Customer Review: Laser Pointer and Flashlight (what a concept!)
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for something like this product and couldn't believe someone (China) already made it. My dog loves chasing the laser beam around and when we take walks in the dark, the bright LED helps cars see us when they are coming down the road. Cats and dogs love the laser pointer. They just can't seem to catch it. Just please don't point it in their eyes, it can harm them. The flashlight has a single button that has 3 modes. Flashlight ON (Laser OFF), Flashlight OFF (Laser ON), Flashlight OFF (Laser OFF). Comes with 3 AAA batteries so you can jump in and have fun right away. A very good deal and pretty decent quality metal housing as well.
