Customer Review: Greasy jeweler's bench block

Received the 4x4 bench block on time but it was covered in some kind of oil. I was a little miffed and before I got concerned about it being some kind of mistake, I found out through the reviews for this seller that the steel needs to be protected from rust, hence the grease. I think this needs to be added to the item description, because as I felt and another buyer had mentioned in a review it was "unexpected". Additionally, what kind of grease is it?! I smells like motor oil or something with a very heavy chemical makeup...if we are to keep it protected in this grease please advise what can be used that is non-toxic and more eco-human friendly. Thank you.
