Tools and Hardware Reviews of SE Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 10 Super-Bright LEDCustomer Review: 4/27/10-UPDATED- Nifty wireless [battery operated] INSTANT lighting - Summary: 5 Stars
12/21/10: This is our 4th and is a bit different in that it has a 'frosted' cover
which no doubt puts the $$$$s almost $2 over 1st three. And the switch in back is not covered w/plastic tab, but this in turn makes it easier set position/ On-OFF-AUTO.
This now set near kitchen entrance. Just put face down in daylight/then turn over at night.
Have 1st one on top of a tall chest of drawers 'free-standing - sensor bottom left as shown in the picture' / angled twd door and that lights as soon as motion detected in entering doorway 14ft across room - faces away from bed, so we wave hand over if needed when getting up to leave room -
One may have an 'auto-on' problem if batteries not secured - just open/roll and check - and just the energy $$$$$$$ savings from NOT turning lights on/off for pit stops, etc. is so worth it!
Using these in all AA units/ IN and Out :
[[ASIN:B00106L9R6 Moonrays 97125 Rechargeable NiCd AA
Batteries for Solar Powered Units, AA, 4 Pack]]
Have 9 [4pks[ and 3 more on way - Way lowered monthly energy $$$$$$$$s by at least 150 kwh a month which relates to approx. $20 a month!
For charging IF/when needed - Speedy Charger for Ni-CD or Ni-MH Batteries
Rec'd today - prompt Amazon shipping - had ordered the 19th - today 23rd.
Popped batteries in - has hang opening for nail.
Dark and gloomy in SW Va - into bathroom for test - out into covered porch wall for next test - [using velcro tabs one can purchase even in grocery store.]
Will be getting more for 'Santa Stuffers' and exchage gifts as everyone can use
these.
Customer Review: Nice bright LED light with a design flaw... Summary: 3 Stars
This is one of the brightest LED lights for the price I have purchased, but it has a design flaw. There is setttings on the light that you can choose from.... Off.... Auto.....On.
But they are located on the back of the light verse's on the sides of the light. So if you want to change the settings so it does not go on and off multiple times throughout the day if the location you have it in isn't located in direct sunlight or a real bright lighted area it will keeping turning off and on when you walk by. It you have it secured to the wall (like where they have the mount for you to secure it) you have to remove daily to change the settings from off and auto. So really it is not feasible for us. For instance we wanted it for a hallway to be used at night without having to turn on the main light each time. Works great but during the day even though you can see fine in the hallway with no light it keeps going on and off every time you walk by. Thus a waste on battery life.. And it's a hassle to take down and switch the settings every day. So we gave up on that idea and just have it sitting on our kitchen counter for light in the kitchen should you want to get a glass of water or something in the middle of the night without turning on the main lights. Thus the settings are easy accessible and we can switch it off during the day and auto in the evenings. Other than that it's a great light, nice and bright and gives off a decent amount of Bluish LED lighting. I would think it would be easy for the manufacturer to change the design for the controls to be on the side instead of the back other than this I would have given the product a 5 star rating.
Customer Review: Pretty good Summary: 4 Stars
First of all, I'd like to say how pleasurable it is to shop online here at here at Amazon.com. The whole buying and shipping process is always a breeze and I hardly shop anywhere else online now.
I bought three of these LCD motion sensor lights to be used as auxiliary under cabinet kitchen lights. For this function they perform well. The light isn't as bright as my wife or I would find ideal, but they do the job.
To mount the lights horizontally, facing down was a challenge. What I settled on was to screw a small steel plate to the underside of the cabinets, then use magnets to hold the lights. This has worked well as they hold the lights firmly yet allow easy removal for replacing/recharging the batteries ... the magnets are attracted to the metal in the batteries. I used hobby magnets part# 98406 from Harbor Freight ... one per light.
For batteries, I am using Sanyo Eneloop AA NiMH rechargeable batteries and these are working very well. I've been using them for this purpose for about a month now and still haven't had to recharge them, so I'd say they last a good while between charges.
I also hoped to use these lights in a bedroom closet, but found them inadequate for this ... I guess I'm going to have to run wired lights in there.

Customer Review: Useful light Summary: 4 Stars
I put these in the pantry in my RV. Overall, they light the small area well enough. The sensor picks up movement well. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the following: 1)plastic is a little flimsy. Hopefully they hold up. 2) the off/sensor/on switch is on the back of the unit. Why it isn't on the side I will never understand. You have to unmount it to turn it off. 3# not very good mounting options #double-sided tape or hook and loop goes right over battery access door and the "hole" for hanging on a nail or screw is useless for mounting on ceiling) I prefer to screw things in as hook and loop doesn't handle RV heat and road shock very well. But if you RV and you need battery operated light in areas, this is hard to beat for the price. What is realy cool is that the sensor picks up the pantry door opening and all 3 turn on to see everything in the pantry. The previous ones would sense your hand a few inches from them and turn on, but that also turned them off. So they were on and off while you were reaching in to grab things. What a pain. These stay on while it senses movement and then after the movement stops, they turn off between 20-30 seconds (each one is a little different). All in all, I recommend them. That is until I find one that fixes the inconvieniences of this one. Another RV specialized site is offering these as well, but they want $20 each or 3 for $50. So this is an excellent price from Amazon.
Customer Review: Not exactly as described, but adequate for the purpose Summary: 3 Stars
I bought two of these (a better deal, and at this writing the same two sellers offer the two-fer: 10 LED Wireless Motion Sensor Light 2 Pack Easy to Install). While not precisely as described, they get the job done (or at least have so far).
Pluses: bright light from the 10 LEDs, low drain on batteries, no wiring needed.
Minuses: in my experience, the sensor range is much less than the description states (I figure three to four feet); seem to be cheaply made (in China, if that matters to you); the three-position switch (off/constant-on/motion-sense) seems cheap and is positioned such that it's hard to move, which may or may not be an issue for you (if you're leaving it permanently set to sense motion, it won't matter); in one of my two units, the three-position switch was wired backward relative to the labeling, an indication of poor quality control; as other reviewers have noted, (1) there is no "daylight off" function (except to move the three-position switch to off, which is a nuisance), and (2) there doesn't seem to be any heat sensing.
All in all, not a purchase I'm sorry I made. For my use, they're adequate. For some, the negatives may outweigh the good price.
