Tools and Hardware Reviews of SE Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 10 Super-Bright LEDCustomer Review: For the Price It's Fine Summary: 4 Stars
It worked fine from the get-go. Absolutely no directions, which I was hoping would show the sensor range to help me decide on placement. (I see I have to get that info from the product description)
I have it just inside a walk-in garage door. The garage light switch is at the other end of the garage so at night it's completely dark and unsafe to fumble towards the light switch. This thing gives just enough light to get there safely. It's not much brighter than a nightlight.
It's a little odd having the sensor right there next to the light. Maybe I'll have to try a location closer to my feet so the light doesn't shine in my eyes, but it's not a big deal.
This is an easy way to get a little light in a dark spot that doesn't have electricity. For the money don't expect any frills. Some of the bad reviews are from some previous time when the description described features it doesn't have, like daylight-off function. It has ON-OFF-SENSOR and that's it. It remains to be seen how batteries hold up and if it works when the garage gets real cold.
Customer Review: Great Price and It works Summary: 5 Stars
I needed to light up a few small closets in my house so I bought two of these. They come packaged fairly well but they do look a little cheap. They come with velcro so you can either use that or hang them up via a screw.
My closets are only 3 feet wide by 4 feet deep and maybe 8 feet tall. I have this light on the side of the wall so that the light gets reflected and can light up the closet better. It solves my dark closet problem perfectly. The light is well spread and not like a spotlight.
The motion sensor is sensitive. Sometimes I have to open the closet in total darkness at night and when I open the door, the light goes off. Just make sure that the sensor is staring at you. I tried to position it in a recessed corner but it would not go off. As long as you can see the sensor and it can see you, it appears to be going off with no issues.
Like I said, my closet is pretty small. If I needed to illuminate anything larger, you might be disappointed with this particular unit. For my needs, I give it five stars.
Customer Review: Just as described by others Summary: 4 Stars
I have two spaces in my house where I wanted low-level lights to come on automatically when someone entered the space, but didn't want to go to the expense of hard-wiring. After searching on Amazon for a solution, I came across these. The reviews seemed reasonable for what I was looking for, and I didn't expect (or need) anything super fancy or anything I would need to turn on and off manually. I just wanted low-level, motion-activated lighting -- that's it. These sensors work perfectly for that.
Like the other reviews state, these are cheaply made, so if you think you'll need to turn them on/off manually using the switch on the back, don't expect them to last very long. Personally, mine will always be in the "on" position, so it's not an issue for me.
I give them four stars for their ease of use and installation, and also for providing exactly the motion-sensing, low-level light that I need. A fifth star would be earned if they were higher quality, but for the price, they do exactly what I wanted and I'm pleased as punch.
Customer Review: Great value for $7.50 but not as bright as you might expect with 10 Super-Bright LEDs Summary: 4 Stars
This light is an excellent compromise if you are looking for something inexpensive, battery operated, that works "hands free" and provides a wide blanket of not-too-bright light.
I bought this to get some light when I walked into my unlit, 8x10, and without-any-electricity garage storage room. The good points are the motion sensor works as advertised and the light provides a nice blanket of light. (Actually, blanket of dim and I'll get to that.) I didn't want to fumble for a switch and was glad to find something with a motion sensor. It turns on when I enter the room and off after I leave. No forgetting to turn it off and having the batteries run down (it pays for itself right there). It also covers a wide area, pretty much the entire room.
The downside is that with such a wide beam (and LEDs that aren't as bright as those you might find in an expenseive LED flashlight) the light isn't *that* bright. It's good enough to make things out if you know what is there but not good enough, for example, to read labels.
Customer Review: Attractive and Convenient Summary: 4 Stars
I took off one star because the motion sensor turns on these lights whenever motion is detected regardless of the amount of light in the room. A minor problem to be sure, but probably cuts down on battery life in high-traffic areas. Other than that, these are nice looking and convenient for places like the bottom of a dark stairway or passageway to the garage. These aren't giant spotlights, but they do shine an acceptable amount of light on a limited area. I don't think they would be of much use lighting up a closet, as you really couldn't get a very good look at anything that isn't directly in front of the light.
The included velcro strip would be OK for mounting on a ceiling, but I wouldn't be surprised if the velcro is so strong that it actually pulls the paint of of some walls it is adhered to when it comes time to change batteries. The preferred mounting method for a wall would be to hang it on a screw or nail for easy access to the battery compartment and switch. Batteries (3 AA) are not included, by the way.
