Tools and Hardware Reviews of Premium Woodworkers Complete 16-Tool Chisel Set - Custom CaseCustomer Review: More for less Summary: 5 Stars
Spent more than this on a 6 piece set at Home Depot recently and ended up returning them when I saw this kit online.
Shipping was prompt and everything was as it should be when the kit arrived. These are not "high end" professional tools....but that being said this kit is a tremendous value for the beginner looking for an affordable, and relatively complete, starter kit.
Quality of the tools in this 18 pice set are on par with what I saw for the 6 piece set (which I paid more for) so I'm pretty happy to have a better variety at a lower cost.
Maybe I'll want to invest more and upgrade someday but for now this strikes me as an excellent value.
Customer Review: ven better than we'd expected! Summary: 5 Stars
The tools were full-size, in a very durable roll, with whetstones specific to the shape of the blades. Anyone would be proud to have them, no matter how experienced the carver. I am impressed and relieved that as I start teaching my son and the boy scouts woodcarving they will have everything they need to create precise projects and care for the blades. I won't be having to run out to get another tool in order to complete our woodcarving projects--that is how complete this set was.
Customer Review: ONE CLICK ABOVE WORTHLESS Summary: 1 Stars
Nothing is more costly than cheap tools, and these are really, really cheap tools. The worst thing about them is the angle ground on the blades is much too steep and they are dull. I bought these as a starter set for a young person and I had to spend hours regrinding and sharpening. Junk like this would turn a newbie off carving. If your looking for a starter set, and don't know how to grind and sharpen, DON'T BUY THESE.
Customer Review: Premium Woodworkers Chisel Set Summary: 2 Stars
If you are doing a job that is very large in size and requires big chunky tools this set might be ok. Also, you have to use a mallet when carving because they are so big and hard to use. They are not for any type of detailed carving and they feel quite cheap in your hand. The rubber on one of the handles was ripped off because it stuck to another chisel. Overall this is a poor example of a woodworking set.
Customer Review: Cheap Tools Summary: 1 Stars
I do not own these tools. I have not even seen them, but I can say from experience that in the case for carving tools, the old addage "You get what you pay for" is absolutely true. Good carving tools are expensive. In my opinion, the most reasonably priced "good" beginner sets are the Flexcut Tools.
