Customer Review: Plain design, but a good value, and looks good too!

I was looking for a larger grab bar (over 24 inches) but didn't want to spend a lot for aesthetics - just wanted a solid, straightforward bar that looked OK. This fit the bill perfectly, and I'm pleased to report that it looks good to boot.
Nothing fancy in terms of design. No cover plate to hide the screws, and the bar is made of stainless steel with a brushed finish. Not what one would consider to be ornate, but it looks very nice (as nice as a grab bar can look, that is). The mounting plates are 3 inches in diameter, and have three screw holes each.
The finish is a brushed stainless, and it hides fingerprints very well. The brushed finish also makes it more slip resistant than a shiny finish. But, if you really want a slip resistant bar for wet hands, you may want to go with a bar with a knurled finish. The roughness of the knurled finish provides the best gripping surface, but is a bit harder on the hands and much harder to keep clean. For my application (dry use only) the brushed finish was perfect.
It comes with six hefty screws, but it does not come with a rubber gasket like some bars. The gasket goes behind the mounting plate when this is installed in wet areas to prevent water from seeping behind the mount. In my case the bar was installed in a dry area, so nothing was needed. You can still install this in a wet area, but you'll want to use some silicone caulk to seal the screw holes to prevent water from getting in.
I got lucky and got this when the price dipped below fifteen bucks, making it a fantastic deal. But, even at the regular price, it's a good value if you're looking for a solid, basic grab bar. Highly recommend.
