Customer Review: Good, but does not stick to wet surfaces

I use over 100 tubes of caulk and sealants a year, so I have tried quite a few. For general performance this stuff works quite well. However one of the main features they claim is that it "sticks to wet surfaces" Right on the front of the tube there is an outline of a drop of water with "sticks to wet surfaces" in big letters inside. So I kind of figured that it might say, stick to surfaces that were damp, or even wet, but that's just me. I have tried it several times on wet roofing shingles (asphalt)and even after drying the area with a towel it has never stuck. I just tried it on galvanized roofing that was wet, nope, even after drying it with a paper towel it did not stick.
I realize that this is just one aspect of the product, but when they feature this so prominently on the label, I get annoyed seeing that as my job turns into a mess, with the stuff sticking everywhere except where it needs to. I does work well aside from that, it is messy, and has a very short time for you to tool the bead, but it is sticky, and tough when cured. I would be quite happy with it if they had never made the claim about wet surfaces.

Sashco Sealants 13010 Lexel Adhesive Caulk 10.5oz, Clear Lexel is a co-polymer rubber-based sealant. It has excellent adhesion to a wide variety of materials, even after seven days of water immersion. Although it's tougher and resists tearing, Lexel is a soft rubber. This allows it to stretch and compress with joint movement. Lexel should not be used in areas of continuous submersion (i.e., aquariums or swimming pools). Do not use Lexel in areas where temperatures exceed 200 Degrees F. Lexel may damage some plastics, such as polystyrene foam insulation. Plastics not listed should be tested for Lexel compatibility before general application.
