Tools and Hardware Reviews of Schlage BE365VCAM619 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt, Satin Nickel

Customer Review: Great product, Great duriblilty.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this product for over a year now. It has been a life saver! I have a lot of friends and family who need access to my house. This unit is perfect for that. Each person gets their own access code. It is very easy to use, even for my grand mother. The directions may be confusing to some to program, though.

After a year of use, it still looks and performs like new. I have friends who have cheaper keypad locks that use the battery to "open" the lock. They are always getting locked out of their house because the battery in the lock dies. That doesnt happen with this unit. Since you manually turn the lock open, there is less strain on the battery.

I would recommend this to anyone. Although this unit is a little pricey, it has already paid for it self in convenience and performance.

Customer Review: Great lock!
Summary: 5 Stars

Great, great lock. It took all but 10 minutes to install, of which 5 minutes was spent figuring out how to remove my existing lockset (which had a hidden exterior hex screw).
I installed this lock on a rental unit that I have and have assigned pins to each tenant. After they move out, i plan on deleting their pin and creating a new one for the next tenant. This way I do not have to get the locks re-keyed everytime. I alss have maids that come monthly and I have given them their own code, which I will change from time to time. No more giving the maids the key, or having them leave it under the matt.

I read the reviews prior to purchasing, and took everyone's advice. This Schlage really is a 5 star product. Also, Schlage is known in the industry as opposed to Kwikset (previous lockset).

Customer Review: Great Security
Summary: 5 Stars

Right out of the box this lock is set up as a left handed door's dead bolt. I had an issue when installing it, but that was user error. I just forgot to flip the plastic lever on the inside of the lock to make it a right handed door's dead bolt. Ever since I figured out what was wrong and got it working properly, this lock has been very good to both me and my wife...and the rest of our family. We can leave the bottom lock unlocked and just lock this dead bolt, then give out the code to our family members so that they can come over to our house and help work on the house while we're away at work. The best part about it is that we can change the code to unlock it at any time. The shipping took less time than the estimated delivery time said. I think we received it about 2 days before we were "supposed" to get it.

Customer Review: Best thing ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got one of these to reduce the amount of keys carried and to make it easier for family to house sit or the kids to get in. Turns out this was the best thing ever! When my hands are full I don't have to fish for keys. You can program it to your own code or give out a temporary code for a housesitter, etc. It was a little tricky drilling the door as I have a metal door, but just took some patience. On the inside there is a large lever so it's easy to lock or know if it's locked. The kids learned it in minutes and love being able to go open the door themselves without waiting. A bit pricey, but quality prooves you get what you pay for. Screws are all on inside so I dont' worry about tampering like I see on cheaper models that have screws on the outside. I want to get another one for the back door now!

Customer Review: Best One That I Have Installed
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had the brass version of this deadbolt for bout a year and I love it. It is th best one that I have come across (and yes - the most expensive - but you get what you pay for). It is eye-catching rather than an eye-sore. Be careful, some of the cheaper competitor's models have a plastic back that is very unappealing for a main door. The unit is smaller than many by requiring only a 9 volt battery because it does not lock/unlock the deadbolt for you. You do it manually.

Pros:
1) Appealing design (front and back - no plastic)
2) Smaller than most (due to use of 9v battery)
3) Keypad lights up when you touch it for nighttime entry
4) Never get locked out. Give the neighbor a temporary code to get in.

Cons:
1) Pricey ut you get what you pay for
